hey there .... hmmm.... well, i reckon i dont get to see the stars as best as you guys can, on those neat trips...
but, i manage to pull the "rabbit out of the hat" bit and see the stars near about each day of the year, when i look up, outside of my house, or where ever i happen to be...
the best nights for this is at my co-workers, as she has a woodline and the stars look wonderful, along it...
over my house, is quite nice, too--if the moon is along for the "star party" and they all hover over the sharp angle-of-it-all...
a few nights at the grandkids, i get a good "look see" by gazing over their roof...
---oooopss, must truly confess, if the sky is overcast--a lost night under the "stars" ensues, but a great night under the "sky", at any rate....
thanks for the fun, and nightly counts...

"A night under the stars" is romantic nonsense. Even during fair weather climbing trips there's rain (tent/indoor bivies) or truck bivies to accomodate for nocturnal visitations.
Who are your nocturnal visitors??? Are you talking about tassels or raccoons/ringtails?
I probably had about 100 nights under the stars and 1 night under a rain cloud getting soaked. Laziness has its price.
Hoping to get two more in before the year ends!

I think I probably get about 100 a year. I go away almost every weekend and do lots of time in the Sierra in the summer.

Looks like 39, so far. Another 3 to come. Only one getting wet in the rain.
I mean, some in a tent, some under trees, some cloudy, etc., but, you know- outside, on the ground.
All climbing trips.

40ish nights under the heavens and waking to cool desert and alpine views. The memories from these trips keep me sane in the face of life's stresses. There is a comfort in knowing you always have your wilderness.

only 13, but those were the lucky 13 that helped me get through the other 252. one of the best was in Tenaya canyon in late October, it started raining and my buddy and I pulled the tarp over us and it managed to just cover us as the deluge intensified...slept well....here's to more nights out next year!

Looks like 54 according to my log - evenly divided between the Sea of Cortez and Alaska. I guess that makes me a lucky guy!

5 or 6 in Tucson in Feb, then 167 between early April and mid Oct.
I'm smart enough to get a place in Josh during the winter to avoid the devil winds. Feel sorry for those poor bastards huddling over their stove in the morning trying to light it in 40mph gusts, just to get their fix of coffee seasoned with 60grit.

Only about eight or so nights, but they were all quality and with good folk. Otherwise, my two young pals were keeping me busy the rest of the year...
One trip was my boy Colin's first camping outing:
Note the "power pills" in Colin's hand... breakfast of dirtbags...
Another trip to the Bishop Creek area. And you can never start chimney/off-width technique too young:
My girl Audrey wasn't quite ready for outside camping, but will be this year. We prepped her with a nice little hike and a touch o' snow near the Maroon Bells:
More "prep" after lunch at the Pine Creek Cookhouse near Aspen. The mountains literally were beckoning that day:
Of course, this is all groundwork for when they do the Sierra High Route with Daddy... I will have to let them know that they are doing it with me someday!
