Maybe about 75-80. Two 2-week trips out west to Jtree, one long weekend in New Hampshire and the rest up at the Gunks.
Having no vehicle and doing the Gunks nearly every weekend this season made for a really wonderful experience with nature. I found a SUNY New Paltz student who would pick me and Teddy up at the train station in Poughkeepsie late Friday afternoons and return us there on Sunday evenings.
Except for a few times, we were with only our six feet combined for transportation. No trips into town for dinners, no breakfasts at the deli. Even getting to the swimming hole was a walk through the woods.
Many evenings we were alone in Camp Slime, as people weren't arrived yet or had gone to town for food and fun. It was nice to have the place to ourselves.
It has made a difference in how I appreciate time. Life is much better when "instant gratification" is about enjoying where you are at that precise moment and not about being somewhere else.....

I think about 45-50 this year. More than any other years for me so far.

Oh gosh... math.
Let's see... all summer... umm... weekends... trips... does sleeping in my car count?
I'm gonna go with roughly 100. But probably another 100 I was out working under the stars until 10:30 p.m., teaching astronomy, but I slept in a cabin.

Pre-marriage and kids.....about 100 nights a year....every year...I took 1 year off teaching, and that year was about 300 nights that.....Last year;.....one or two.......(I think now that the twins are older...this summer we will try a week or two and see what happens.....)
Lived one year in a mud hogan;....sort of like indoor camping....hole in the roof for the stove pipe let in the snow and the stars...

Was camping on the beach on Lanai for the first night of the year, after that I did 29 more so I had an even 30 as far as I can remember.
An adulthood high for me, with greater days ahead.
Aloha from CNY,

40-50 i think. Mostly on long river trips, with a half dozen trips to the desert and some fishing trips thrown in for good luck.

not as many as usual, i bet about 35 give er take.
was the first climbing season post wife. so i didn't have anybody to watch after the dog, and well, didn't have as much of a reason to want to stay out all weekend, was happy to make it a daytrip and get home to the mutt at the end of the day. :-)

About 62. Maybe 10 of them in a tent, 3 in a bivy sac.

"A night under the stars" is romantic nonsense. Even during fair weather climbing trips there's rain (tent/indoor bivies) or truck bivies to accomodate for nocturnal visitations.
280~345 nights sleeping outside. Maybe only a third of those were actually under stars.
Three cheers to being homeless and racking up all the time getting to "commune with mother nature man". Hip-hip-hooray! Hip-hip-hooray! Hip-hip-oh f*#k it all. I can't wait to move into a car.

Ten? Eleven? Ghaaaahhhh. Worst ever.
Not a bad year in many respects, but far too few nights under the stars.
