Look Hardmann- I think it was determined fairly conclusively, after you went whining to Chris, that the vast majority of people who participate in this forum are perfectly fine with politics being discussed here. We're talking about only 3 threads in the 25 on the front page (if you include the poll thread) that are devoted to politics. Yeah, sometimes people get way out of hand (ahem... fattrad???), but that's just what happens in semi-anonymous internet forums.
Would you be so troubled by this situation if Matt were spouting right-wing rhetoric? I imagine not. After all, I didn't see you trying to change the forum on account of Jody. In fact, I seem to remember you being somewhat active in political discussions in the early days of the Iraq war. So, why the sudden change of heart?... and why do you think you feel you can impose your will on the rest of the forum?
If you don't like the political threads, then don't click on them, and move on.

what?
hey dave-
you are nothing but a name dropping starry eyed groupie!
no wait, i take that back, you are a name dropping starry eyed groupie that has learned HTML. so F'ing what...
i have always thought you were a bit of a kook, and you have always known it. i told you that day that ONE thing you had heard was misrepresented to you, but that i'd meant absolutely everything else i'd said (particularly here).
EDIT- and if you think i am any different in person, it's because i have never wanted to hang out anywhere near where you are hanging out. many of my friends will tell you what you apparently don't know about me, that i will be the last one to back down, and being smaller than someone like you doesn't intimidate me one bit.
as for me, the fact of the matter is that i grew up the son of a single mom in a progressive town and i have always been into politics, that doesn't mean that i have ever talkied about it with the likes of an idiot like you!
and you are calling me a pussy?
really? based on what, exactly?
cause you tire of reading the truth on a place like the internet?
cause i don't agree w/ your idea of conforming to the rules or something? (btw- how many of those whining "outlaw the politics" emails to Cmac were from you? thought so...)
speaking of pussies, whatever happened when you were supposed to go to blows w/ bob(waterchossguy)? i seem to recall some good laughs, maybe i will look up that old thread, just for fun...
but back to you calling me a pussy-
well Fyou, ya freak, and the gloves can come off on both sides, so be careful what you wish for! you have just bitten off more than you can chew.
would you rather back that statement up with a bout of onsight freesoloing, or in an alley somwhere? at least in your case, you don't have to fret about anyone wrecking your pretty teeth... (regretting this yet?)
really?
you are caling me a pussy?
when was the last time you even saw one? do you remember?
hey dave- here's a question for you- when was the last time you even SAW a naked woman, in person, and for free? much less touched one? i think maybe your angst is just something else, far too long pent up...
has john kerry lost your vote yet?
tragic- maybe you'd better have a 3rd cup of coffee (urp)
btw- mr. HARDonNOT- when was the last time you took a crowbar to a famous route? so it won't be so 'scary'? want to tell you minions about that episode? and about what an expert YOU were at the time to be making that call?
and did you know that everyone we both used to know in marin used to refer to you as 'crazy dave'? no really, like this: "dave, dave who? oh, CRAZY dave, right..." and it wasn't cause you were so smooth on the rock either, lemme tell ya...
hey dave, ya know why snakedyke is so run out?
cause no one else ever falls on that route! no on else i know has ever done so, anyway.
finally, you seem to say in that other thread that those rockclimbing.com types are so tiresome, but that was you pal, wasn't it? you were an expert internet-climber-guy LONG before you could ever belay safely, much less place a nut, isn't that right? and even now, do you even climb in yosemite? you are still ever the clown, and hanging out w/ cool folks won't ever make you cool.
so in review, dave, you can blow me pal.
now you wanna put the gloves back on and play nice?
if not, i am easy to find, but no biting, i don't want the bizzare and jagged scars those choppers of yours might might leave...

For what it's worth, I never e-mailed Chris about political posts on this forum;
Why would I? I have posted all my comments here instead -- for all to see.
Ask him if you don't believe it.

WTF are you talking about? That's a pretty serious charge.
Do you know what libel is? Put up or crawl back into your hole.
(post has been archived; it's too late to edit it out)
Also, I seriously doubt I have any minions -- that's a good one.

Yo dumbsh#t, I posted about that on this forum as well as on rec.climbing.
While the likes of you wants to spray about what a bad-ass Yosemite guy you are,
and laughably offers a free-soloing challenge, I don't take myself so seriously.
I posted about the SD adventure, and even have said (boasted) on many occasions that I am
the only person in history to fall on snake dike. I still laugh about it.
Go look up self-deprecation. It's the antithesis of what you are.
In any event, making fun of someone's climbing ability is pretty shallow and lame;
but I would expect as much from you.
It really is a shame you are such a two-face.
Now I'm dying to hear about the crowbar...

just for kicks, i will clarify what dave referred to above:
("Do you remember when I confronted you at Shoreline a couple years ago?
And do you remember what you said and how you acted?")
somehow, somewhere i was talking to a guy we both knew (but a friend of dave's) about lots of stuff- mostly what he'd been up to, and somehow (i don't recall how) dave came up in conversation, and then somehow (i don't recall how) it came up that dave had sent a 12c sport climb out at mickeys beach.
so this climb was 12c
and it was dave's 1st 5.12 send ever (as far as i know)
and it took dave lots and lots and lots of tries (as you would expect a 12c would take lots of tries by a climber who hadn't worked their way up to the grade)
i mentioned to this friend of dave's that it really wouldn't interest me to get on the same climb 50 times, because it's "just not my bag, BABY".
that comment was transformed by the age-old game of telephone to become me, telling dave's friend, that i wouldn't need 50 tries to send dave's climb.
the fact was that i had also told dave's friend, that when i knew him better, i was frightened to climb anywhere near him, but that it had been awhile, and i was suprised that he was climbing 12c. i am pretty sure my coments that day included, "that's cool".
some time later davegot all flustered about it and rather than contacting me directly to call me on it, he made a big to-do about it right here (back when there was no ST registration and it was a wilder place, so it may not have even stood out at the time).
he did confront me when we bumped into eachother (which happens maybe 2 or 3 times a year, can't wait for the next one, goin to JTree for TG, dave?), and i explained to him that i hadn't intended to insult him in that way, that his friend hadn't quoted me accurately, that i had no beef w/ him personally, and that 12c was a hard grade, nice job.
if you think i am a pussy because i didn't tel you to F-off that day, that is prety weak stuff. maybe i should have thrown blows inside my friend's business, just because you were told something that was false and we happened to be in the same place in the same time...
anyway, as i said that day, if i had any reason to go around talking sh#t about you (which i didn't, until now), i wouldn't seek out your good friends to do it...
all that said, i was climbing for several years before i ever projected a climb, and that one took 5 goes. nothing against projecting, it's just never inspiered me, i'd rather get on something new. that said, i have been climbing easy all this last year while showing my new wife-to-be "the ropes" (as it were), and i may spend the winter projecting steep bolted stuff, just to se what it's all about.
to answer your question, dave, about my climbing posts, maybe they are down some since most of the stuff i have climbed in the last year i have already soloed, but i'll bet i have still placed a lot more gear in yosemite this year than you- am i wrong???
not every day out climbing needs a TR on the internet.
and not every day are we faced with serious election.
i will post about whatever i like...
as far as the crowbar, i will also clarify that i am just repeating what i heard, because i didn't see it, but i heard it a lot, so i doubt it's false...
(i am not sure that i didn't hear it from you...? maybe not)
but dave, you are 'oceandave', so you might know this- wasn't there a block up there on nancys?
i think there was.
so where'd it go?
and believe me when i tell you that LOTS of people were pissed.
some just because of the perception that you were involved... weren't you? it was a long time ago, so who knows, that's just what i've always heard.
edit
While the likes of you wants to spray about what a bad-ass Yosemite guy you are,
and laughably offers a free-soloing challenge, I don't take myself so seriously
i thought YOU were all about how this was a CLIMBING forum?
and i thought YOU were calling ME a pussy?
so which is it?
Go look up self-deprecation. It's the antithesis of what you are.
In any event, making fun of someone's climbing ability is pretty shallow and lame;
but I would expect as much from you.
yeah, i am all about how great i am, me ME ME!
what are you thinking will come of it when you flat out call a guy a pussy? did you expect me to agree?
so how did you expect that we would settle it?
i think i actually suggested 2 options, but hey, i am just a 'pussy', but maybe more of one than you can chew (cause it takes some practice)
FWIW- those instances of your climbing and being a hack were YEARS ago, so you can let it go, but it's stil funny. i promise not to ridicule you now if you still suck, does that make me a better person?
and by the way dave, climbing in yosemite is what teaches us all that we are not such badasses after all, unlike the internet, where you are so experienced.

Dude, I'm serious. Name names. Name specifics. Please don't tell me all you have is some BS heresay.
How pathetic.
You're trying to damage my reputation -- and you can't back it with
more than what some anonymous gossiping bitches in the gym said?
Please...
There's a chance for you to save face--and not look like a total idiot;
you can apologize for spreading BS you heard from some gossiping bitches.
Again, name names and specifics -- or apologize, and then shut up.

it's one thing to call a guy a gossiping bitch, and another thing all together to call a guy a pussy w/out cause.
It's obvious he's never liked me,(sniff, sob, sniff, whipe) and it now seems he has always treated me differently
behind my back--for whatever reason, hence the "two-face" comment--but this really is a bit much.
truthfully, when i am behind your back i am not treating you anyway at all. what do i see you, twice a year? maybe? i don't like or dislike you, we are not pals, we are aquaintainces, and that about covers it, you started this, so go read your own posts, and then blow me
as for not liking you, who has been trying to pick a fight w/ whom?
if you don't wanna go there, then don't.
YOU very clearly started this, not me, so again, blow me!
as for your crowbar-
if you are so interested with your reputation, answer these questions, clearly and directly (if i am wrong, convince me):
1)was there or was there not a block on nancy's that's now gone?
2)did you have knowledge in advance that it would fall? (for example, one night years ago, when you were walking around your home-gym, showing everyone a box of shinny new phat glue-ins, that you said were meant for that route?)
3)did you or did you not describe to me, that very day, this large block (that you thought was loose and scary), that could come out if yarded on too hard, and that you postulated would cut the leaders rope if it did?
4)is that block on the route now?
5)did it fall of by itself?
6)is the route different as a result?

Back to the original posting...
Look at the bright side. Does this mean that I can now go out and apply for a grant, based on "Did the Arc Come Thru the Grand Canyon?" Just think of the possiblities! Get a grant for a couple of mil, move to the SouthWest, take some pictures of the canyon (with a caption of "Did the Arc land here?"), pick up some road side hunks of wood that would have to be sent back east for carbon dating...all this should take about 2hours a week. The rest of time is spent climbing and sitting in the sun...all on a govt. grant. Life is sweet.

Hey matt, thanks for the concern about my teeth.
While I can and will get them fixed,
you will always be the Caucasian version of Gary Coleman -- 4 foot 2,
with a really big mouth. No amount of money can ever make you taller than the average 13-year old girl. Sorry pip-squeak. You should hope that Disco-style comes back, so you can wear platform shoes to make you as tall as a 14-year old.
The block on Nancy was removed by the first-ascentionist Jim Thornburg.
He climbed the route before Greg Barnes drilled the holes and installed the titanium glue-ins.
While Jim was up there, he noticed that a large block had gotten significantly looser,
and he was able to move it with his bare hands. He worked it loose,
and then put the end on a regular sized claw-hammer behind it, and the whole
thing popped loose and fell. It probably weighed 80 lbs or more.
All I did was buy the bolts and arrange the re-bolting. Nice try, Tiny.
BTW, I call bullshit on your "lots of folks were pissed about it". Name one, Midget.
Oh, and since you talk about all the gear you've placed in Yosemite,
how quickly you forget that you were the laughing-stock of this forum...
Check this out for an example of Matt's gear-placing prowess, and how he whined
like a little girl when someone got his gear. LOL!
And sorry, Pint-Size -- you were bad-mouthing me that day in the gym,
not only with the "dangerous Dave" comment, but how you would have
done the route in less trys. Don't lie, Webster.
And what's with all the "blow me" stuff? Do you remember the drunken skank
you slept with on New Year's Eve in J-Tree a few years back?
If that's the kind of stuff that you let blow you, I am a bit worried you would proposition me.
You should be ashamed you stooped so low, Inch-Worm.

yet bad-mouths behind peoples back -- and then denies it when confronted.
You are a gossiping little bitch -- STFU and look in the mirror.
You will never be as tall as me, and I am genuinely sorry about that.

Check this out for an example of Matt's gear-placing prowess, and how he whined like a little girl when someone got his gear. LOL!
either that, or the girl i took up that day lacked the finnesse to get the cam out, but that #1 still lives on my rack, so the 'someone' that got my gear was me! i was bitching about the overly opportunistic behavior of other climbers, and i still feel that way sometimes. my 1st instinct would be to try and return any gear that i find.
And sorry, Pint-Size -- you were bad-mouthing me that day in the gym,
not only with the "dangerous Dave" comment, but how you would have
done the route in less trys. Don't lie, Webster.
well dave, i can tell you right now that i would have done it in less tries, as would almost anyone else who can climb 5.11, haw many times are you gonna need to rehearse a pinch? but that's not what i said to ken, cause i had no beef w/ you (before)
And what's with all the "blow me" stuff? Do you remember the drunken skank you slept with on New Year's Eve in J-Tree a few years back? If that's the kind of stuff that you let blow you, I am a bit worried you would proposition me. You should be ashamed you stooped so low, Inch-Worm.
you mean that really cool woman, w/ the great body, that i woke up with on the 1st morning of the new millenium? do you know what we were doin, that morning, while we watched the sun rise? when was the last time you did that? yeah, beat me up, ridicule me, and tell the whole world how i welcomed in the year 2000, i am just crushed. and she was awesome.
(and you can still blow me)
Finally, my definition of a pussy is someone who acts all friendly in person, yet bad-mouths behind peoples back -- and then denies it when confronted.
i have always tried to be nice to you, just as w/ anyone else i may meet. that doesn't mean that i will be calling you to go climbing or even ask you for a belay. just because a guy like you is socially awkward doesn't mean they are somehow a bad person or worthy of ridicule (it's only when they call you a 'pussy' that they are worthy of ridicule). and btw- i still think you need to study up on just what a 'pussy' is... didn't some guy who is 4'2" offer to settle this face to face, days ago? what's up w/ that? pussy.
You are a gossiping little bitch -- STFU and look in the mirror.
