Yes you were. Your personality disallows to see that though. I think everyone who saw that thread agrees that you were being rude and obnoxious. I usually don't mind that much, but in that case you pissed all over a great fire...and that ain't cool.
Doesn't necessarily mean you're a dick, you just got out of line.

I agree with Laura. I can't say I know him well and he definitely doesn't agree with my view of the cosmos, but I believe there's a sensitive individual behind Weschrist's posts. We all make mistakes in our online decorum, (myself more than most). There's a busload of posters, on ST, nastier than "westy". If caustic wit was grounds for dismissal, Karl and Crimpie would be dancing alone.
I have my own (insignificant) list of irritateurs and westy isn't even in the top twenty. His posts get caustic but he's usually sincere even when "caustic". I vote for a stay of execution (if he agrees to stop whining about my blonde, blue-eyed paintings of Jesus).

I like the guy, weschrist. Underneath the trolling the guy has very good intelligence and he's sharp. He plays with people vulnerabilities. Very good, you'll get stronger.
You can learn a lot from people if you know where to look.
He certainly taught me a thing or two during his trolls here.
A good troll can bring out the best interesting stuff out of the people he's trolling. DrKodos had a knack for it too. DrKodos had a different style but was good too. He needs to sneak in here at times and fire up people out of their complacency.
Just like a hard climb that keeps kicking your ass, you just want to keep coming back and figuring out what you're doing wrong.
And there are really stupid trolls here at times that just bring out more stupidity, well, those we just skim over. Hahahaha
It's all good man, if something offends then talk back or just chill man. You can't save the fukin world.
Save yourself first. Then you can do something really worthwhile.

I enjoy that Wesdude can be thought provoking and make us think outside our preconceptions.
On the other hand, like many people with those abilities, he might not have wisdom to do it in the right places at the right times.
So let's punish him a bit when he's really off base and he can decide how important that subject is to be "out-there" with.
I mean, if you stand up at somebody's wedding, and Yell "Is she finally going to let you f*#k her now?" You might rattle some chains. You might get away with it at the reception once everybody's hammered if they're all your friends already.
Still might not get invited to more weddings

Whatever, everybody has their rough edges. Variety is the spice of life, and life is too short to hate. I don't have any problems with anybody here. You take the good with the bad.
Which reminds me of a joke:

The son says, "I understand, but we've been over this before, and that's just the way it has got to be. But I tell you what, I'll make you a deal; we'll go to one rest home, if oyu don't like it, we'll go to another, if you don't like that one, we'll go to another, and we'll keep doing that until we find one that you like. Fair enough?"
"Alright, fair enough." says the father.
So they go to the first place, and sure enough, it's a horror-show.
They go to a second place, and it's just as bad. Maybe a little worse.
But the third place is immaculate. Big, beautiful building, right by a lake.
"Well pops, whaddya think?"
"This looks pretty good, I'll give it a try."
So a few days go by, and all is well, until one morning, the dad wakes up with a raging case of morning wood.
Just then, a female nurse walks in and sees his situation, and thinks to herself, "hmmph, I guess I'll just help an old guy out."
So she gets in there, and gives him some morning glory.
Later that day, the father calls his son, and tells him what happened..."This place is AWESOME! I'll stay here for the rest of my life! Thank you so much son, I love you. You've made an old man very happy."
"That's great dad." Says the son. "I'm really happy for you."
Well, time goes on, and one morning the father is getting up to go watch the sunrise outside his window when he takes a fall. He is struggling to get up on his feet again, and is kind of down on all fours when a male nurse walks in, sees his situation, and thinks to himself, "hmmph, I guess I'll just help an old guy out."
So he gets in there into the no-no zone, and does the bad thing.
Well, you'd better believe that day the son got a phone call..."This place is TERRIBLE! You have to get me out of here pronto! I can't live like this. If you love me, get me the hell out of here!"
The son says, "Wow dad, I'm really sorry, but we've been over this already; I can't take care of you. Plus, you've always told me, "you've got to take the good with the bad."
The dad says, "Yeah, but look, I'm gonna get a woody once every three months, and I'm gonna fall down every other day!"

Michael (nick d)--In the game of trying to "play well with others", making personal attacks on the physical characteristics of others is considered tacky and quite de trop.
You may not like Westy's attitude in his posts, and criticizing him for that is one thing. But when you attack someone's physical appearance--and come on, we're all doing our best Bird of Paradise immitations day in and day out--you're bringing yourself down to a level that is anything but likeable. In fact, you make yourself look remarkably ugly, inside and out. That's why Raimit flamed you...and rightly so.
You've posted photos of yourself. Anyone could rip into those and point out what they think are your imperfections. And if others had ridiculed you in the past for the same thing, it might actually hurt your self-esteem. But that's not what SuperTopos is all about, is it? This place is for exchanging information, and, if anything, building people up.
It's a tough world out there, Michael. Like Pascal said, If you knew the struggles of your worst enemy, you would fall down at his feet and beg his forgiveness. So debate Weschrist on an intellectual level if you must, but try to avoid the personal attacks. You'll look and feel better for it, I promise.
