A-HOLE... without a doubt.(But I never met him in person.)

For the record, I've never met Karl Rove, DICK Cheney or MAN Coulter either...

actually I like wes's comments. Sure, I may not agree with all of them, but it is a breath of fresh air to read a different opinion, once in a while.

I really enjoyed some of his stuff on the retrobolting thread. He wasn't even advocating retrobolting everything, or even much, but it was still too much to handle for some fragile egos.

Oh yeah, and he actually posts climbing related comments. ST needs more provacateurs like him.

Cheers!

wes spices things up and does not really seem the bad troll he's been made out as lately. This one cracked me up:

"I feel so honored to be sitting on the other end of this network of tubes connecting us.
Please share your political views with us all. I mean, if you were able to do 11c X in EB's, surely you know everything there is to know about the way the world works."

Either way, he's 'arrived' now that he has his very own thread.
Hmmm, maybe I need to power up my wanker-volume & post-frequency to make a name for myself.

Yeah, maybe you're right? But isn't it amazing how you more 'mature' gentlemen go so quickly to the clever curses and cute pictures of poop scooped from the net?

What does it say about you that some young punk can rattle you so easily? It's the internet man, chill.

I like his variety even though I almost totally disagree with him. However, what he did to the Supertopo Legends thread was out of line. He almost ruined a good thread.

Well, now that you mention it...he does have a caustic wit that makes hydrochloric acid look like weak cherry Kool-Aid. However, once you get to know Westy, you'll find out he's really kind of a softy.

He's way too smart for his own good, and undoubtedly way too sensitive about the state of our world...the combination makes him a tough person to understand at times.

But if you can get to know him before you burn him at the stake, mangle him with a meat clever, or cut his rope on a wall, he's got a wonderfully wicked sense of humor and a true commitment to our earth. All the other stuff is just a HAZMAT suit and not worth getting knotted up over.

Well, it's up to him, as to what we will see. He did some good work on the tahoe fire thread, odd that he doesn't appear to have enough self esteem to confront the forum directly, without the assheele/troll drag, very often. But, if he's as young as he needs to keep reminding us, he may grow out of that.

Caught,

Well, you've attempted the same almost since you started to climb, but your lack of experience in the beginning was really slowing you down so I have no doubt you'd look up to the likes of Weschrist. But the bottom line is his variety of slag and shag trolling is about as loud as you can get when it comes to infantile displays of strenuous virtual handwaving for attention. And while he and his friends can attempt to color it as clever bouts boredom the result is the same - inane banality made all the more pathetic by him thinking just how clever he really is.

Well Joe, that's just terrific. Too bad it is just so hard to ignore something you don't agree with eh? Especially on the internet, where everything is so deadly serious-like.

If he actually believed in something to disagree with, or if one could differentiate between his bullshit and beliefs there might be something to work with or ignore - as it is one pretty much has to assume most of it bullsh#t. That's ok until he starts spewing it at folks who have clearly earned the respect of the climbing community at large. His inability to recognize respect already earned and his assumption those same folks somehow need to earn his respect just highlights how low his self-esteem really is.

Oh, when the topic is the carte blanche trashing of rock - on the internet or elsewhere - yeah, I take that as serious business everytime...
