Wi: Not been to those ruins. I admit, every time I've headed inland. Maybe I'll try that this time. Here are some photos from my last trip there. I'm staying at the same resort.

So, technically, there could be some climbing...

Another really fun thing to do is to rent a jeep and explore the island of Cozumel. This was taken on the ocean side of the island. Way less developed and a gorgeous area...

Edited: Those photos were taken in 2004. I took myself to Mexico for my 40th b'day. Ha! I just looked down and see I am wearing the exact same pair of shorts right now. Plus, I wore that shirt two days ago. Um, I guess it's clear I'm no clothes hog.

We wen't to Puerto Vallarta this spring and it was fun. I wanted a climbing trip but my wife really just needed to chill and de-stress from work. So it was Margaritas all day by the beach!

Lambone - your TR with the monkey (that wasn't PV though) has inspired me to construct one from this trip. You should post one from the PV trip. I've not been there since the 80s. The ivy plants there are friggin enormous! And the cliff divers. wow. I have it on video tape.

Wow C what have you been doing to your pecs?

Word is that the wait for passports is at least 2 months now, so I guess its just a chicken burrito at Oscar's with a Corona with all that boring virgin rock to stare at.
Woe is me.

Micronut - what a nice photo. being able to see things like that (your son) has to make the trip even more enjoyable. Please let your son know I appreciate his warrior-ship. Happily I'll not have to fight off any dragons while I'm there now.

The adventurous spirit is what I love about supertopo. Callie says she is going somewhere and 15 people chip in with advice about what to see or where to go. Very cool. Soak up some rays for me Callie. It makes me happy to know that you are going to have fun. I gots to learn some spanish.

Micronut. That is an awesome picture of your son. Is the beach on the Pacific coast? I love the surf. Hoo rah...

Jaybro - the lagoon at Chankanob? (wow another wickedly bad spelling there). The lagoon on the Island of Cozumel? Or is that some other lagoon?

Moosie - Agreed, it is nice to get everyone's input. And it is nice to have friends to share this with. :)

Looks like the State Dept heard me. They just waived passport currency provided people have applied for renewal.

i think akumal is like an xcaret thing. lagoons, cenotes, ocean.

cenotes are really fun. some local ones are really secluded and small. a family run affair. the underwater caves go forever. some people dive in them, but we just snorkelled and climbed and hucked back into the water.

check this site. i don't want to push it too hard, but they are really something unique

Hey Crimpie,

I'm pretty sure that was Ammon's TR with the Monkey, in Costa Rica.

Ah, indeed Lambone, you are correct. Lambone - Ammon - Lambone - Ammon. Filed in the same brain folder (it's the AM & ON in each). My bad.

Still, post up your PV TR!

Looks like you won't need a passport to travel to Mexico this summer.

yeah, Akumal is on the mainland just North of Tulum.
Not as developed as xcaret(sp?)or at least not when I was there in '93. That x place is fun too; in That lagoon I bumped into a shark about twice my length and a four foot baracuda (I hasd just read the Hiaasen novel where a 'cuda eats a guys hand so he gets a weed whipper as a prosthetic.)

I'll be in Mexico City June 27-July 4. I was thinking of heading to Cozumel for some diving. I'll be climbing outside of Mex City too, if you are interested in joining.
