Melissa "loose" is what your clothes get when you lose pounds.

(As an adjective, it of course can describe other things. Of course, you can loose the dogs, or lose your dogs, but that is two different things as well.)

TradisGood,

You are not using "loose" as an adjective in your first example, but rather as a verb. You can LET LOOSE your dogs or LOOSEN your dogs. The latter would be rather difficult, and it would probably be more feasible to LOOSEN your dogs' collars, for example.

But you can't LOOSE your dogs.

Cry "havoc!" and let loose the dogs of war,
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion men, groaning for burial.

Rick, one contest you didn't win - the one where you change your location when ever you post!

Well... my scale was a bit nicer to me this fine morning. Down Five pounds in a day! Not sure what's going on there - I was probably more hydrated today than yesterday. I didn't eat hardly at all yesterday and went for a run. Still... I feel rotund (sp?)
