Thanks Captain Evans for keeping a climber's focus on this amazing achievement.

I have two 5.14 sport climbers in one of my high school math classes that I teach. Such is life living in Boulder. We are all amazed and proud of Tommy and Kevin's climb. When my colleagues who have been seeing this in the media ask me if this is really as big as everyone is saying, I tell them this is one of the greatest athletic accomplishments in history, for any sport or activity.

This should remind all of us in the climbing community that we really aren't so different from each other, regardless of how we climb.

What's the official grade of the Dawn Wall free and aid? Of course, it will be interesting to see when/if repeated . . .

Remote is a dumb requirement for a time related classification.

It is certainly in a different class from any normal VI.

There's no doubt that the video / TV people were inspired by Tom Evans beautiful photos. Other sports don't take place in these kinds of settings, with multi colored rock in the background.

The video work itself was barely up to the job, every so often bump the tripod to get the climber back into view. But it's a first for sports coverage of rock climbing, live just like any other sport.

I hope it doesn't catch on, though. The circus atmosphere seems disruptive in Yosemite.

No it isn't a first.

You always just say stuff as it floats across your mind?

Actually, because of the time and effort to climb the route, both working on it for 7 years and a 19 day ascent of unprecedented difficulty,it should be a grade IX !!
