Worlds record slowest ascent on El Cap.

Even Pete is a screaming eagle compared to this.

It took 7 years to dry this paint ...... :-)

Strong work as always Tom!

I am glad that you are on hand to keep the media commentary and discussion real and accurate. I am very stoked to see the world paying attention to this climb being done so proudly and well!

El Capitan is the grandest stage for free climbing that you could ask for and the lads are delivering a command performance. Much Respect for Team America!

going from crimps to crack...

perfect opportunity for the Big Media to tell the world that crimpers are merely a gateway drug, er I mean hold.

Summit glory tomorrow - that'll be some awesome footage!!

This has been a pretty major opus for Tom, and he deserves a round of thanks and cigars.

I can't help but wonder though, how all these news teams are going to react when NPS tells them any footage taken is "their" property - like they did when they nearly killed the Report altogether?

Thanks Tom.

What's the story with the helmets? I've never seen them wear them before...

I thought I was only person that used one!

Not an issue unless you are an employee or nps volunteer. I would imagine big ups has the proper permits. Tom should be covered under media newsworthy event rules in this case.

Hope you are making a bit on those widely used media pics Tom . Enjoy you next cruise man.. you have waay more than earned it.

Tom,

Thanks for all the hard work on this ongoing update.
Although one of my New Year resolutions was to cut back on time squandered on internet forums, I've been checking up on this one every day.
Fascinating stuff.

Kevin lead the next pitch rated 5.9 and by the time it was over, the team seemed to take longer than we expected. What was going on here?

Tommy led the next pitch which was rated 5.11 off width but only toward the end. Strangely enough Tommy lost the line on the relatively easy traverse section and burned a half hour trying to find it again! We were wondering just what was going on with these guys?!

Was the answer not blatantly obvious??? It's the helmet!!!

Thanks for sharing the ElCap Reports, Tom. To be honest, I grow a bit more stoked for the guys every time after reading your report because from afar, it looks more like a time and resource consuming engineering project that you know will be done eventually. It's your reports that bring out the human aspect, which adds a lot of beauty to the story.

Great job, Tom. You handled the main stream media better than most politicians!
If I can share a moment with you, seems like a lot of water under the bridge since that rainy fall day when you, and Donini, and I stood around the campfire trying to figure out what to do next.
I trust more than a few thoughtful people are saying thanks by pushing the Donate button on your web site.

I don't deserve the top of the page, so someone delete.
