I saw Warren a year or so before he died. He gave a lecture at a local college on the first ascent of El Cap. He was very overweight and sipped brandy during his talk. At the end he was drunk as a skunk. I've always heard the stories about his famous drinking parties. It was very cool when I was younger to hear these things but now as a child of alcoholics I think how sad his life must as been if climbing wasn't enough for him. Can anybody enlighten me about this subject? What do you think was eating at the guy?

Don: I wince every time I think back to misspelling Ms. Condon's name. I heard later she was amused, which made me feel a little better about it.

Speaking of Susie Condon, I haven,t seen her since parties at her dad Tom's house in the early 70's. Anyone know of her wherabouts and doings in this new age?

Carmel Climber,

"What was eating at him"?

Warren was up before the judge after one of his numerous DUIs. After reviewing Warren's record, the judge looked down at Warren and said, "Mr. Harding you seem to have a problem with drinking." To which Warren replied, "Oh, no sir! I don't have a problem with drinking, I love to drink."
