Get well. Seek help if you don't.
It is the beginning of flu season. Flu clinics are underway. I'm working on the company Health Fair and ordering the flu shots that will be distriubuted in a couple of weeks.
Once people start staying indoors with closer contact to each other (like go back to school and return from vacation), they start merrily transmitting germs to each other.

HI everyone. Yesterday was awful. I took Riley's advice and went to the ER. No matter how much fluid I had consumed it wasn't enough so I had gotten pretty dehydrated-they took care of that-.
Since my headache was pure hell, they shot me up with something and poof, gone was the pain.
Since my condition followed within a day oh my returning from camping out at Mammoth Lakes-specifically Sherwin creek camp-I was asked if anything bit me while there, nothing I could remember. I did lie down in the stream. And I did take a good crash on my mtn bike, so had some good rock rash, but neither of those counter.
btw,,,you guys who live up there on the Eastside, I've spent the past month om various trips all tent camping went rock climbing, hiking and mtn biking all of it in the Mammoth area. Previous trips I did get bit by mosquitos and stung by a bee. Wonder if there is anything up there, Lyme? ect.
Well, one of the test results that came back pretty much point to Mono. So at this age it is Called Epstein-Barr. The MD was pretty convinced this is what ails me. I've had this before in 2006 and it sucks because it whacks a person down for at least a month.
Upsetting, we had these great campsites reserved right on the beach over on Catalina next week.
I will know more on Monday on the blood work taken yesterday by my primary MD, however, the ER guy if feel is pretty spot on.
Thanks again all of you!
Riley, you were exactly right about going to the ER but damn this is going to do in my fitness, I had been doing great!
Thanks LEB for your Imput! my primary MD did order the type of test that look for things a camper might acquire, Lyme for example.
locker you are a doll....I CUD use some of your tunes about now...
Silver if you happen to read this thread, my daughter and I did summit Boundary Peak!!!
OK, I am worn out now, gotta lie down now.
Thanks again:)

Karen- Hope you will feel better really soon. It's great that you are getting good care.
I mentioned in insatiable's thread that I had very similar symptoms to what you are describing a few years ago which was West Nile virus. A couple of days before I had been in an area where they were reporting it, and I had gotten bitten by mosquitos a few times when I was in that area.

hi karen,
i've just been diagnosed with tick-borne relapsing fever, with many of the same symptoms you describe. i needed serious medical intervention and am now on IV antibiotics. i recommend that you teat this really seriously and find a doctor who will fight it aggressively. i tried to ride mine out and just go way sicker.
feel free to contact me by eemail or we can exchange numbers if you want to talk.

Are these tests not conclusive? I thought the test for Epstein-Barr was fairly reliable. Any of you doctor types care to comment on this?
I hope you recover quickly Karen.

Hi all, it's been a crazy last few days. Friday night while I was asleep the MD who is treating me called and left two voice mails saying to go to the ER and if I didn't get the message then to go to the Urgent care in the morning.
Of course, I didn't get the message until the morning. She didn't say why in this message but she sounded sort of alarmed.
I went to the Urgent care-btw, it is affiliated with the clinic where my MD works-so I go in and the MD there doesn't have a clue as to what is up. She pulls up all the MD's notes and just reads that from my last blood work it came out, "positive" and that some bacteria was growing-whatever in the hell that is supposed to mean.
She was confused and knew it was all over her head and tried to find information but was unable. After three hours, all that was accomplished was sending me back to the lab to take another blood test and was told to come back today, and if anything got worse to go back to the ER.
Last night was awful, had a fever again and bad headache. Went back to the Urgent care today and saw a NEW MD, this is getting old. He comes in really arrogant and I go through the whole song and dance with him. He proceeds to tell me I have a sinus infection (which I actually do have now, what's up with that?)
I still don't really know what's going on. I see the MD who has been treating me tomorrow, the one who left the panicky message tomorrow morning.
I need to go, it takes a lot of energy to type, but will update you'll tomorrow.
Thanks for your encouragement and internet support!

Hi Lois, I was not given an antibiotic in the ER, just a pain med and an IV to rehydrate me. My regular MD prescribed; Doxycycline (not sure what it is for) and Cipro for the UTI, yes, I had one of those had no idea though.
Currently I have a normal temp. but the norm for the past week is during the night the fever hits, I get really hot and miserable and have these crazy dreams!
Lois, prior to yesterday I did not have a sinus infection, not that I knew of.
edit...my white blood count seems fine, it is my red blood count that is low, what does that mean? of courses along with the abnormal liver functioning test results.

Hey guys, well it is complicated and the MD is still perplexed but at least I feel better.
Here is what I know from the latest test results:
Still have abnormal liver function test results
Now am anemic (go figure)
Definitely have a sinus infection
The worst symptoms at this point is being very weak and having severe night sweats, they go on all night.
Lastly, my MD called me tonight, didn't have my phone so only have her voice mail message saying; most recent results looking better, however, if I get any severe abdominal pain to go immediately to the ER. Hmm.....somethings up?
I see her again on Thursday. This is all just really scary, confusing and seemingly complex. I did ask her if this could be due to something quite simple, she said it could, hoping this is the case.
Thankful at least this week my cognitive abilities have cleared.
Btw Lois, I've had every exotic test done; Lyme, Rocky mtn spotted fever, typhus, west nile, ect. Not all of the test have come back.
Well, one thing about being laid low, my cats are happy having me around!
