It is not flu season so don't know why I ended up with it, nor have I been around anyone that was ill.

I have some questions.., I began to get sick last Saturday late PM, the symptoms were so strange I didn't know what the heck was going on, it was scary.

Anyway, my symptoms are:
Severe headache that has not waned, in fact, it was really bad today, a little while ago I couldn't stand it anymore and took a oxycodin.

Muscle and joint pain, at first it was all the time, now it comes and goes
.
Very-very weak

Fever-constant, goes up and down. The highest it gets is 102.5, today it stayed around 102, finally a little while ago it went down to 100.

I can't seem to quench my thirst no matter how much I drink.

Then last night was bad, I woke up like I was hypothermic, had to get my down comforter, I had uncontrollable shaking-teeth chattering-this was beyond chills!!! When I got out of bed it was all I could do to walk, so I began to drink fluids and after 24 ounces of water and a entire bottle of gatorade the shaking subsided.

What I do not have and I thought you had to have these in order to "officially" have the flu: sore throat, difficulty breathing, no respatory issues at all, thank god that I don't have the above.

So, to add a little more to all this, I went to the MD yesterday and she orders blood work done and she said if things got worse to call, which I did. Turns out some liver function test result are very high and they wanted me to return for more blood work. The last thing the nurse told me was the MD said to not drink alcohol, I am here to say I rarely drink, have always been like that.

So maybe I Don't have influenza, what do you guys think?

I feel very alone in all this, I'm miserable and it doesn't help that we are having this awful heat wave!

I'd like some input if possible and since I kinda out of it, this posting may have quite a bit of grammar errors and spelling for sure.

Looks more like what they're calling 'seasonal flu' in 2011:

i just saw my mom's cousins, a gal that i dont know, but see her on facebook (mom does not do comptuters) ...

but:

she had stuff like this happening to her very bad...

it'd go away...
but then come back...

she kept thinking she had the flu...

then, she had some test done, because she had a very bad worse time of it, when it came on sudden, again... awful fever, got dangerous high...

well, i am not sure ( i can find out, if you want) but turned out she has some kind of joint? infection, or arthritis type stuff
???

it was in the joints, not the blood, unless i got that backward?
but--this sure reminds me of her weird awful story...

*couse you coud just have the flu...
or who knows what, but, just saw the work and i WILL GO GET THE story, info, and EMAIL it to you private, since it is HER body stuff, that she went through, and so i shouln't just post it for all, even though i'd not give her name...

will keeep you in my prayers, though, for sure..

I couldn't sleep just tossed and turned until I just gave it up and got out of bed. My freakin' head hurts, I would say it is an 8 on the pain scale. Getting off the internet now, it hurts too much to look at the screen.

Have my MD appt. at 9am to find out the other lab results on my liver.

Riley, I have been getting into shape, we will climb if this thing doesn't kill me first:)

Have you been anywhere tropical lately? A variety of diseases you can pick up feature symptoms like the ones you describe. I'm not a medical professional, but I did pick something up in the jungle in southern Mexico many decades ago, and it still hits me one or twice a year with alternating fever and chills, joint pain, and muscle spasms.

I think Karen is just reaching out to her community for some support in addition to getting to doctors. You have our support, Karen. I know there will be many monitoring this thread for updates.

I hope you have the answers you need soon. It is scary to be hurting so badly and alone in your home while hurting so. Is there a friend you can call who will be with you while you are at the doctors and who can advocate for you?

Maybe Hepatitis A?

I had it and it messes up the liver quite a bit. I was dead tired. Doctor called me the same night, after hours, that he got the first set of blood work done. He aid that I had a liver disease that was going to kill me or more likely Hep A that would not kill me.

It was Hep A. Most likely got it from a food place. He called the health department and ever kid at my daughters school got the anti-hep-a shot. Bummer for them but I might have also gotten it from my daughter and her school since she tested positive too. She had almost zero symptoms.

Your doctor will know soon enough if not already.

The only thing left over from it is my inability to donate blood.
