You go, guy! I can only imagine how hard it must be to give up something like that.

BTW, I always thought Ricardo Cabeza was your real name - LOL!

Yay Brandon. It's been over 17 years for me and I still remember how hard it was to stop smoking tobacco. Nowadays sugar is the substance I am giving up, along with daily use of caffeine. PM me for support if you need to-- or you might get a pm from me one difficult evening...

Brandon - I was thinking about my earlier post and want to amend it. Not only will your family be thankful, your taco family will too. We'd like you around as long as possible regardless of your richard cabeza status. :)

Thanks, Crimpie.
Not enjoying it, but it should be done.

Sincerely,
The poster formerly known as Ricardo Cabeza.

You can do it Brandon, good luck and be strong.

I smoked cigs from '85-'95, quit for five years and then smoked again from '00-'09, almost a total of 20 years. One day I just got sick and tired of buying, smoking and people bumming them off of me so I decided it was time. I looked at my watch so I would remembered the date. It happend to be 9/9/09... a good day to quit, haven't smoked one since.

I dropped the cigs after 10+ years cold turkey.

I thought of how they controlled me and told myself "You are in control".

I thought of my climbing, my friends, my family, and that this is NOT the hardest thing I have ever done.

The way I look at it, gotta get your mind right, then drop the hammer.

Wish the best of luck to anyone ready to commit.

Back in the Fall I created a thread about quitting smoking here on ST. I found an enormous amount of support and have not had a cigarette since October

Kudos on reaching out and sharing your effort - we all support you.

Stick with it.

You sound like you are fully committed, so your divorce with nicotine will happen. Whatever cravings you are having, they will pass. Eventually the cravings will be a fleeting memory. It just takes time.

Aarrgh. Two more days in.

It's frustrating and moderately difficult but tolerable so far.

I totally see the triggers, now that I'm not bowing down to them.
