I'm two days in.

I'm not a smoker, but a good ol' boy who chews.
C'mon, my first job, at fifteen, was logging.

Wish me luck, this is going to be difficult.

If I get snarky, I apologize.

Consider changing "all over" in your profile to "quitting tobacco" for the interim.

That will do it.

Props

Good luck! Though I've never been addicted, I grew up in a household of addicts. Watching them try to quit many times demonstrated to me how difficult it is. Hang tough!

Like the change!

Your family and friends will appreciate you for it too. I recall growing up in great fear that my mom and dad would die early because of cigarettes.

I've been thinking lately of changing my name on Supertopo. I don't really feel like a Dick Head.

Maybe a name-change will be cathartic and aid in the tobacco drop.

Maybe not, who knows?

I'm open to suggestions for a new handle, though.

I just think it'd be fun to rename myself.

While using my real name isn't creative, it has (mostly) kept me non-snarky here.

Haha. Lame I know, but it still cracks me up. :)

if you go from being Richardo Cabeza to Dick Head

My Spanish isn't so good, but isn't that a possible translation? A fine multi-lingual play on words.

Anyway, good luck with the quitting thing. Let us know if we should bring a straightjacket.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Good choice man!

I was a smoker for years, and finally managed to kick the habit about 3 years ago, hopefully for good.

I used the patches, and one thing that may help you:

Before I quit, I sat down and made a list of WHEN I lit up, and the things that would make me WANT to - stress, arguements etc.

Once I had a list of these triggers, it was way easier for me to combat the mental addiction along with the physical part.

Maybe that will help you in your quest to stop chewing. Good luck! It's a great choice to stop!

So many people on this forum have quit over the years. Put nicotine in the search box and look back. Here is one thread where Largo talks about quitting chewing.

Good luck Brandon!

Cabeza...I worked with this chump that smoked camel non-filters...He would always blow the smoke towards me thinking he was a tough guy...I put one of those exploding devices in his cigs and he almost cried when his cig went up in a puff and he saw us laughing at him..Mr. tough guy ended up with jaw cancer...Tony Gwynne , a chewer and famous baseball player is fighting jaw cancer...Please quit.....rj

Word.

It's funny to think of it this way, but I'm in more immediate contact with you denizens of ST than I am with my group of friends here in super rural NH.

I see my friends often, but the feedback helps when I'm chillin' at home.

Evenings are the hardest, I usually finish dinner, walk the dogs, and have a chawski.

Dialogue helps.
