Gorilla Monsoon by our very own Largo.

I have read it's collection of climbing / adventuring stories over and over.

It truly captures the real spirit and texture of adventure.

The Black Cliff by Soper, Crew, and Wilson is the climbing history of Clogwyn D'ur Arddu in northern Wales. It is captivating and informative. You will feel you have to visit Snowdonia and climb after reading this book.
In High Places by Dougal Haston. One of the best climbings books I have read, up there with The White Spider.
Everest The Hard Way by Chris Bonington. I have a autographed first audition from his slide show in Seattle back in the 70's but I can't loan it out to anyone thats not Scottish. Masterfully written and amazing full color glossy photos.

Deborah by David Roberts may well be his best book, Unsoeld thought so, which reminds me: Tom Hornmbein's Everst the West Ridge HAS to be on this list.
I like Dan Duane's Lighting Out, and Looking for Mo. They're two books, but easily read as one.

Edit: Whoops, see you have Hornbein on there.

Steve House's Beyond the Mountain is definitely one of the best books by an American about pushing the envelope.
