I hear they're giving houses away in Vegas. How do ya feel about strippin'? There's always work if yer not too picky.

I think the comment about low cost of living = low wages is pretty apt.

What is it that you do for a living that would be so easily transferable elsewhere? Is the issue where you live or what you do for a living? Obviously the latter is much harder to cure than the former. I've also been tempted to move someplace else in the hopes that life will be cushier (or at least less draining) but I get the feeling it'd just be same sh$t, different place.

Fayetville, West Virginia- the New River Gorge. Real estate is ungodly cheap, the climbing is great and the local climbing community has some wonderful people- also good boating if you're into that.

Thing with those "white trash" places is you gotta be able to deal with humidity.
I lived in Chicago till age 15, ain't going back, to trade it for the mellow, breathing space, of the west, no matter how superior the pizza is!

Not my paradigm, you guyz' got some great raw materiel on the stone! I'd already be dead/just can't handle the wet sweat.

Word.
When I moved away from the Ozarks forever, bugs & humidity were at the top of the list of reasons to leave. I'll slum it out in Idaho, s'ok.

Arkansas climbing is the bomb digity! Climb year around just have to suck it up mid-summer then you're back to stellar weather for the next 7-8 months! Oklahoma has granite that is outstanding and 5 hrs. from Arkansas climbing. Cost of living is cheap in Arky and Oklahoma..

What Dingus said:
Asheville, NC or even better - Chattanooga, TN. So cheap, so much rock. And biking. And kayaking. And hanggliding.

But yeah, the culture shock movin' from Cali to the buckle of the Bible Belt would certainly be something to consider...

Edit: Jay's right, it is humid as H3LL 11 months out of the year, but you can literally climb 365 if you know the rain circuits.
