Love that haiku-esque note from Dick. Too fun.

Jef, yeah that kooky mantel-weirdosity kip thing probably is never done any more. It is located just to the right of the Great Overhang but at ground level. While standing on the dirt, you grab those two horns while facing out and simply pull your feet up and over your hands and commence grovel to a standing position. There was another face move by the way. Back in the hole, just to the left of the far left Watercourse, the big mantel horn about 5 feet above the ground: face out hop up so your hands on the mantel horn are now mantelling, bring your heels up one at a time near your hands and stand up facing out still. Both of these moves are fun in that they break the endless tedium of crimping and edging the itty-bitty walls in there, month after month.

Jef, don't use this pin. It is worth quite a bit more than the $6-$12 a similarly sized Lost Arrow costs today. What is the story of how you found it on the North Buttress?? Was it fixed or just laying somewhere?

Steve, I don't have much of a stash anymore, just two of them. I got them from Bridwell when he was upgrading to Chouinard. I'll e-mail you a photo, as I'm not sure how to post to the taco. H.

It was just laying under the dirt and leaves on a ledge high up on the route....must have been dropped. Makes you wonder what kind of hardware is lying under the boulders and manzanita near the base of El Cap.

The description on E-Bay says it would have been made in the 50's. Would the early 60's be more likely?
