Shak, My scope is mounted far enough back so that getting hit by cases is not an issue. Don't follow the mounting instructions w/ the choat mount as that thing is designed for a reguler hunting scope and not a tacticle scope. I had to file an extra groove in the rail to accept a tacticle scope! They recomended 1.5" forward of the back of the reciever and I am only 5/8th" forward of the reciever. Additionaly I have a long stock on there so with 3" eye relief it is just about right for me, I can still use stripper clips though for some reason they don't load all that well into the aftermarket mag?? as near as I can tell the limiting factor on accuracy besides the human factor (myself) is the ammo. Seems that wolf is all that is available cheap these days and and it is wicked inconstant both in bullet weight and velocity. One batch I chronyed averaged 89fps deviance between rounds in a 5 shot test. Annother batch for 5 shots had a 74fps deviance but then the sixth shot was 125fps faster than the slowest round in that group. that is enough to change the impact point considerably. The average velocity of the 122gr stuff was 2480 something.... advertised at 2396fps I will do annother test today..

My old Springfield Armory Ben Killham custom W/ one of many usless trophys that thing won in an era when everyone else was useing opticle sights and many were going with doubble stack mags! Its been rode hard and put away wet but still hanging in there My best guess is it's creeping up on 150,000 rnds serviced... Wish I could find a reguler holster for it?? the only thing that seems to work is the open front Ernie ball comp holster. Toying with the idea of grinding the front sight back to a ramp style so that I can use your basic open bottom belt slide holster?

Holster?
You mean that you actually carry that thing around without a gunbearer?
"Makimbo! There's a bloated wart-hog in the bush! Hand me the Killham!"
LOL
You could always just grind off the last 2" and use a standard holster.

LOL, Nice one.. I was the only customer Ben had that actually shot 3 to 4K rnds a month so he used me for R&D Unfourtunatly he is retired now.... This was the last of many comps we tested and it worked the best. Solid metal on the sight plane, the gas goes out at 45% angles leaving your sight plane clear. So it has 8 ports. Modeled loosely after the comp on a Thompson SMG And yes I do carry it on the very few ocasions when I feel the need for a side arm. Most recently when the step daughter was being stalked. " Thats not a gun son, THIS is a gun" :) I do have a Glock17 but the Kilhan .45ACP just seems to get the point accross so much better;)

The first version of the Kilham custom. The plate blew out of the comp @ about10,000 Rnds hence we started our journy of testing . None of the other comps failed but evey now and then Ben would give me a ring and say " I got a little somthing I want to try, Why don't you swing by." The last one worked the best though it looks to be at least an inch longer than the original.

Can you put a stock on it?
So this guy also lives in Vermont?
Is it true that anyone can carry concealed there?

Ben Killham lives just accross the river in Lyme NH and was a big wig in Colts R&D section for years before opening a small shop in NH made some pretty good stuff including pistols for the Saudi Royal Family Retired now and most likly better known for Bear rehab work. Even has a special in National Geographic with his bears. My gun was never supposed to be fancy just functional. The most function for the $$ = skimp on the finish. Parkerize instead of Blue Skate board tape VS Checkering etc. Good thing I got to be his test dummy as i couldn't have afforded the updates otherwise.
VT has no concealed carry laws other than City ordances in Rutland and burlington. Possibly a few other towns as well??

Peter Lewis' dad was in R&D at Colt as well.
Used to bring home some interesting prototypes to work on.
Aside from sweet rosewood grips (which I might take off to save; see photo I sent you) the Les Baer is all meat and potatoes.
Its starting to get some bluing wear and a holster scratch or three, but I plan never to sell it so WTF; just personalizing it.
Function is everything, but there's a lot of icing on THIS cake in terms of accuracy. She be tight!

I should have sent you the photo where you could better read the name of the compressor's previous owner.
That holster is one of Royal Robbins' 5.11 series.

I love Taurus's but I'm gonna stick with my IMI baby eagle, as soon as the DA gives it back.
AK's you gotta go with the Gallil ( if you have deep pockets) For the rest of us I swear at and by my Yugo underfolder, 2 to 3 hundred yards open sight with my poor vision and I could get a kill shot. More Americans have been killed with the Ak since WWII then any other assualt weapon on foreign soil. Mine has even fired a .223 round once by mistake........ Of course Americans in their cars are actually alot more effective in killing ourselves off every year on the highways.
How's it hanging Pagan? any chance of an out west get together this year?

doing good mark - how are you ? yeah we should do something now that i'm half way to healthy again...
ron i take it you didn't try posting those yourself from photobucket ;-)
so i'm sitting here less than patiently waiting for ups to deliver my rifle back from the factory - it's on a truck and getting the tour of SLC as we speak...patience was never my strong suit...
i dig the underfolder. i'm also diggin this new glock 19 ;-) all these bone anchors in my right thumb make holding a pistol somewhat painfull in that hand, so i'm back to shooting lefty...

Well I hope it had a scope too or you got burned.
As far as my friend goes; there's a little more to it than that but I like your interpretive rendition.

My rig with the draganov stock and bipod is too heavy. Ok for the range or home but wouldn't want to hump it and distance. I played with an AR15 @ the gunstore last week and it was light as a feather and handled well... are there any serious problems shooting a righty AR left handed??
