Met so many quality people and had a blast. Good laughs. Will post some pics in the next couple days.

Even though the elevation was getting to you Mouse, it was great hanging with you. Thanks for coming up and the donations to the raffle.

And Neebee, we won one of your dream catchers. Now you don't have to make me one, haha. We love it.

We raised 564.00 for the ASCA.

Danny doesn't look like the typical climber, does he?
But he just completed an ascent of the Porcelain Wall next to Half Dome.
Just want Danny to know I got back safely and in a timely manner.
Hope you enjoyed the lake with the kids.

Several parties on Saturday headed to the same crag on the left of Shuteye Pass. (Brain farts are keeping me from remembering the name of the cliff.)

There is a solitary figure right center. This is the view from Justin's trailer.

First time at Shuteye and I must say it's more confirmation that the Sierra is by far the best granite climbing range on planet earth! Even the more obscure spots are probably better than the main destination in any other state :)

Had a great time and fun meeting everyone and climbing even though I didn't get there until late Saturday night. But I made it in time to get a serenade from Graham Doe on one of his beautiful Hapi steel hand drums.

Met and climbed with Joey on Crocodile Dome on Sunday and had a blast. I also did my first ever sport climb, that stuff is fun!

Limping Crab sure is tall!

That's why I like slab, I can reach past all those blank parts. Didn't seem to help much with the sport climbing though :/

Thanks Justin, everyone sounded like they enjoyed themselves and the taco signs were really helpful for those of us new to the area and driving in at night.

I forgot my camera so just picture perfect granite and smiling people, that sums it up.

Mouse,

I wasn't there so thanks for the photos and thanks to OP(t.j.i) for the plan. Sorry the altitude got to you Mouse, but I personally love "climbing" trips even when I can't climb. I've never been to Shuteye, and I so want to see it and climb there. Sounds like a great area.

It's a treat seeing a photo of Mark. Man, I can't remember the last time I saw him. Maybe at Humboldt State in '77? Matt Pollock and I were going to use "going to see Mark Chapman" as an excuse to get in the Park when we got in during the '95 government shutdown. We just drove through the unstaffed entrance without being stopped or questioned, though. I'm sorry we didn't "have" to visit Mark, as Matt died in the commercial fishing accident 3 weeks later.

It would be great to meet you Mouse. I don't think we ever did back in the day, but you knew Luke?

Freeman? I married a Freeman! He was much better than I so he had to go climb with Werner instead. I'm sure he'd have preferred climbing with me, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Besides, Werner probably turned out the better for having had to climb with Luke.

We haven't met, I'm VIRTUALLY certain.

You'd love Shuteye and vicinity, man.
climbing with Chappy was Jay. S. from Berkeley.

Thanks to TJI it was a fun event. I agree "Danny" does not look like a typical climber but he acts like a typical climber from the era in which I began climbing. I owe a big thanks to "Danny" because he has encouraged me to spend more time climbing (and drinking) and less time mountain biking (which is far less fun then climbing or drinking).

Haha Ludwig. Mouse that's Kenny Rose, we call him The Legend. One of my climbing mentors and the first person to take us climbing about 15 years ago at Trapper Dome. He has done a ton of stuff around here and if you've ever climbed in Big Creek you've climbed his routes. Kerchoff Dome should be renamed Rose Dome, ha.

Limpingcrab, first time sport climbing? Dude no matter how many baths you take you'll never be clean again, haha. Thanks for coming up, I will definitely make it down to SEKI in the near future.

Darwin, I think you can use the Chapman excuse to visit Shuteye now. Talking with a legend was one of the highlights for me and meeting his buddy Jay as well. They were solid to watch climb too. Will post pics later.

WHen my plans for going this weekend fell through, I knew I was missing something special. Thanks to all who shared pictures and stories from the trip.

Just wanted to say miss Matt and Bruce. Two of my all time favorite guys. Hard to believe we lost them both...hope you are well.

Chappy, one of my favorite memories of my bouldering days at Indian Rock was in 1972 or '73, when Matt, Bruce and I were bouldering down in the Pit, and a couple of cop cars drove up and their occupants got out with revolvers drawn. They looked at us and said "You don't look like the guys we're looking for, but you need to come out to the street with your hands up." (Berekely police were obviously enlightened and user-friendly by then - in contrast to the People's Park days). When we got out to the street, they asked if we'd seen anyone around there threatening bystanders with a rifle. We hadn't, but we decided it was time to end the bouldering session.

Thanks for reminding me of those two. I still miss them.
