Gak, I guess we just knew that it was something kind of like that.
Still very tough to read. Thanks for the info John.
I'm hoping that working for the movie types, he's going to be well cared for, medical bill wise?

This sounds very hopeful but I'll bet he has the worst headache of his life!
Now is when everything he has endured climbing will really help him out.

Ho boy, that's a rough ride. And man, that's gotta hurt.
His face is twice it's normal size ...
Just in time for Holloween. But think of the children.

Sounds like he totally lost his balance for a sec, and was unable to land cat-like. So much skill and balance, Coz has to go and get distracted for a sec, right at the wrong time. Perhaps he was too comfortable in the rig.
Hoping for the swelling to subside, the healing to begin in earnest, and the pain to take a long walk away.

In old age, over drinks, and after a hard rockclimb..... Scott will likely look back at this incident as one of his worst accidents....and so glad he pulled through and recovered.
Good luck Scott!

I was so afraid to look for an update. I am so relived and glad to see that he will still be part of this world. I don't care what his face looks like yesterday, today, or tomorrow. His essence is still the same.
Sending positive energy your way.

astonisingly, no major organ damage, no spinal issues and aside from swelling on the brain, requiring a draniage tube/stint, and no significant brain damage.
This is great news. He has the tools to work with. It will be a long road, and he will need friends at his side. I encourage everyone to go see him. Pace yourself though. Often in long term injuries like this one, everyone comes at the outset, and visitation diminishes as you heal.
It is very important to have support in the later stages, as that's when the mental game comes into play. Once you realize how long the road is to rehabilitating your broken body, is the time when despair can easily set in.
So don't all go see him at once. He has many long days ahead and your visit may be that one ray of sunshine on an otherwise stormy day.

As Seamstress said, I hold my breath for updates. For something so horrible this sounds like a step forward.

Thanks for the update John.
My best wishes for Scott's full and speedy recovery.
At full boom, moving a condor and running over a 4x4 piece of lumber, pothole,etc.. can send a shockwave to the basket that can catapult the operator(s) over the safety rails. Think flicking a pea with a plastic spoon. An operator moving the basket too quickly at full stick can do the same.
I've attended the funerals of three co-workers due to this in my 18 years in the industry. This is the reason full body harnesses are now required.
There are many ways to be injured or killed on a movie set. It doesn't matter how this happened to Scott, it only matters that he lives and will recover.
