yeah, genesis is over finally. yesterday i hiked and slipped on ice up the east ledges, and then rapelled el cap in 8.5 hours. i picked up my fixed ropes by the dawn wall, and above el cap tower, and packed up my camp on el cap tower and then descended the nose. eighteen rapells in all, pretty hairy and commiting. but at least the top was not so wet like when i climbed it last weekend, it was too frozen this time.
all in all, i spent 20 days over the last five weeks and except for the hypothermic finish in the dark, it was an awesome and amazing experience that i was so glad to share with you all. i had to dig deep, and liked what i dug up. it was fun, hard, and satisfying. i spent one last night at the base, coiling chucked ropes and just feeling it. thanks you supertopoans for everything. shipoopoi

"yesterday i hiked and slipped on ice up the east ledges . . . " Fixed rope(s) solo - shades of the death slabs on half dome or how does that work ? I remember Wbraun talking about a "3rd class" route he did angling west toward the summit of EC out of eagle creek .

Congratulations, Steve! I'm sooooo glad you made it down, and retrieved your ropes ok. You were looking like one gnarly bad-ass tired blonde on Monday.
So tell us all about that screamer...

I was wondering if your bivvy tent up there on El Cap Tower was getting lonely.
Well DONE Steve.
