factoid: Among all teams, Seattle's four no-hitters since 2012 are tied with the Giants for the most during that time.

Can the Dodgers get any worse? Oh, yeah, baby.
And how about those Mets? After their scorching start they’re really on fire now!
Cubbies aren’t showing any signs of awakening, huh?
Screw the Yankees. jess sayin’...

Jim, you're just trying to wriggle off the hook and reset the narrative. You're guilty of being that worst breed of lily-livered baseball fan—a Yankees fan from Philadelphia.
And if Mike Trout was from Peoria instead of your podunk hometown, you'd still have the soul of an Angels fan.
They play in a suburb!
The glorious Oakland Athletics—the feral pigs of the American League—took the lumber to your beloved Yankees in the Bronx last night and now have two shots at taking the weekend series from them.

With about the first 25% of the season done:
Yanks and Sox.... they are going to be tough to beat...
Dodgers warming up, Cubs being an all or none offense, DBacks coming back to earth after playing well above their heads.
Nats still cant figure it out...
Ohtani might actually be able to do it all...
Javi Baez is still dazzling and swinging at everything
Hoping Machado does not go to the Cubs. He rates kinda high on my chump meter, but is some kind of player. I could probably get over it if he lands there. I don't think he is going to the Cubs though.
And for Reilly: Matt Kemp MVP

it already seems like a whole season...
looking forward to some exciting series between the BoSox and Yankees.
Go Sox!
and I'd love to see the A's make it to the playoffs, possibly to watch them play the Sox in Oakland.

Geez Ed...how can you root for the flawed franchise that traded Babe Ruth?
Likewise you Dodger fans who profess undying devotion for a franchise that snuck out of Brooklyn in the middle of the night like petty thieves.

Geez Ed...how can you root for the flawed franchise that traded Babe Ruth?
it's definitely a congenital disease... born in Boston, the first game I went to at age 6 was at Fenway, a vivid memory of walking through the dark cave area and seeing the startling green field as you make your way out into the stands.
What is definitely an advantage of being a BoSox fan is the fact that you can go to the same stadium at age 64 that you went to at age 6... not many baseball fans can do that.
The current franchise is not doing to badly compared to all those years that I followed them... my dear grandmother never saw them win the championship, but every spring she'd chirp those optimistic words "this year is our year"
Anyway, lots of history

No Reilly, but last week I endured horrendus traffic while trying to get thru LA in the middle of the day...what must rush hours be like? High paying jobs are only one component of “quality of life.”

I can do that at Bosse Field in Evansville, Ind. Back in the day when major league teams would play exhibition games on off days during the season I saw my first major league game there: White Sox v. Reds.
My best time as a fan was in the '70s going there to watch the AAA Evansville Tripletts. Tickets were cheap, got to sit behind the plate. Saw at least two Hall of Famers, Bert Blyleven and Jack Morris, not to mention quite a few future MLB MVPs.

Rather than look it up... Say Ed.... explain how all that StatCast stuff is generated.
How do they calculate spinrate? That seems like a tough one unless you have the superslowmo guy sitting there counting rotations...
I sorta get launch angle and velocity will give distance... you know, using math...
I can guess at the way they do "play probability" but that one seems to not work that well in what they suggest and what I'm seeing...
What do you think is the most revealing or interesting stat that they are giving out, and is it accurate?
(6-1 Cubs over Giants in the 9th right now... GO CUBS!!!)

Runs scored. The most under-rated stat.

my favorite stat (that isn't recorded as far as I know):
Failure to fucckkk the defense over when they employ some ridiculously lopsided shift.
I have no quarrel whatsoever with the shift. But unless you're Babe Fukking Ruth, or 'roids era Barry Bonds, if they're giving you the entire left side of the diamond, just bunt the goddamn ball

That sh#t drives me nuts. Instead of bunting, they dribble a grounder right into the shift.
