Good eye, Dave...that's more what I was getting at.
Jewelry store owner, liquor store owner, Brinks guard...you'd expect those folks to be armed (and hopefully trained...?)
You gun-nutz like to rant about how if everyone carried a gun, there'd be less violence, &/or perps like the guy in Aurora would have been taken out early on.
There can be no doubt that in all of the horrible shootings that have happened over the years, that a complete bystander in or around those incidents was armed. How come you never hear about those guys taking the perp out?
If you've got a real example, I'm all ears...

I'm running out the door and getting as far away as quick as I can. Especially if I'm armed. Now THAT's intelligent!
And when the cops show up, throw your hands up in the air as fast as you can and say "YES SIR" as often as required.

Ron, I am going to have to respectfully disagree with you about your position being that the towns of the west were settled and kept "crime free" only because most everyone was armed.
In FACT, the opposite is the truth: It was only the towns in the old west passing VERY strict gun control laws that men with families were even willing to settle in those towns.
Guns were obviously widespread on the frontier. Out in the untamed wilderness, you needed a gun to be safe from bandits, natives, and wildlife. In the cities and towns of the West, however, the law often prohibited people from toting their guns around. A visitor arriving in Wichita, Kansas in 1873, the heart of the Wild West era, would have seen signs declaring, "Leave Your Revolvers At Police Headquarters, and Get a Check."
A check? That's right. When you entered a frontier town, you were legally required to leave your guns at the stables on the outskirts of town or drop them off with the sheriff, who would give you a token in exchange. You checked your guns then like you'd check your overcoat today at a Boston restaurant in winter. Visitors were welcome, but their guns were not. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/07/23/1112703/-De-mythologizing-the-Wild-West-gun-laws-were-actually-stricter-then-than-now

Out in the untamed wilderness, you needed a gun to be safe from ..., natives ...
Way, way more likely the reverse...

Over 270 posts of lip service.
The other gun massacre went hundreds of posts of lip service.
Americans are masters of lip service.
Blah blah blah blah.
When it comes time to do the actual work they still waste even more time for meaningless lip service and do nothing except waste your money.
Stupid Americans brought to you by the likes of apogee and his crew .....

I'm guessing when year in year out a fair portion of your clientele is stupid everyone starts looking stupid after awhile. Thank god we don't cast aspersions upon those who still use a telegraph key to post to forums thus creating the impression of a terse or easily fatigued personality.

Chaz scoffed More people have been murdered just this year in San Bernardino than at the Sikh Temple and Aurora Colorado ALL PUT TOGETHER ( and it's only August ), but I don't see President Obama addressing that.
He's into Group Politics. The Group is everything. If you're murdered individually, Obama doesn't give a sh#t.
Funny. In 2001, 10 times as many people died to gun violence on the 364 days that weren't 9/11 as died on to terrorism on 9/11 and yet folks like you supported spending a couple of trillion invading 2 countries to "protect our freedom" and still insist "nothing can be done" about gun violence. I guess you're just into Mass Death. If you're murdered individually Chaz doesn't give a sh#t about your freedom.
Really, though...what do you expect in a country based on Christian values?

Take a deep breath. Step back and ask youself does "Gun violence" distinction make any sense to you? Does it matter? Do you really think that same "violence" wouldn't exist even if firearms didn't exist?
It's almost as if some people REALLY believe that guns are the cause or at least the great motivator for murderous rage.
I know why some people feel that way since the media has hammered it into their heads but it's still very interesting.

What if the shooting had occurred in a Mormon Temple or Jewish Synagogue?
Or for that matter, what if the shooting occurred in a Chick-fil-a chicken hawk house?
What if the shooting occurred at your own house?
And you were home? Not home?
Better yet, what if you were returning from your (daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual) visit to your place of worship well armed with (sidearm, shotgun, semi-automatic, fully-automatic ...) and as the shooting was about to occur in your home, you were able to light the mootherfuukker up with one or all of your weapons?
Isn't that why the framers of the Constitution had the good foresight to include a second amendment. (Little known fact. The original second amendment was going to be a soil additive invented by Ben Franklin to foster the production of tobacco in the southern colonies. It was supplanted by the current amendment when John Wilkes Booth shot Franklin).

Jeebus, these gun-nut f*#kwitz believe that if you don't believe every Uh-merri-kin should own anti-aircraft howitzers, you are clearly out to take their precious pea shooter.
There is no middle ground. Right, Repugs?
