Hi everyone, there's an update on Tacos' facebook cause, see below, looks like positive news! I'll post more as I get it. Meanwhile, thanks to those who continue to fund her return trip to Japan - I just received a very generous check from a tacostander for her.

Tacos Update
Hi Everyone!

I just got a small update from Tacos' friend Mizuho.

Tacos can sit on the bed and keep the postion for about 30 minutes by herself but needs help to get up.

She cannot use a PC there in her room, so she is going to get a cell phone and try to send us e-mails.

Thats all I have so far, looking forward to getting her emails :)

Cheers everyone, keep sending Tacos your positive vibes!

What's happening with Tacos?

I thought a friend of hers was going to visit her in the hospital and give us an address and phone number?

It's a shame she's just disappeared?

I can't believe her brother came from Japan and noone got his phone number or address? It would be so easy for me to call her family from Okinawa if I had a number!

I'm sorry everyone - yes I blew it not getting the number.

I wish she or her family would answer her emails. That's the only contact info I have.

Does she have any other friends in the U.S. who might have info? What about the Facebook connection?

Does anyone know the names of anyone in her family and what city they live in so I could look them up in a Japanese phonenbook?

What about the friend who was going to visit her in the hospital?

I'm going to be away from the internet from 8/16 to 9/8 and won't be checking this thread - if someone finds anything out or has any questions or comments to direct to me, would you please use the email associated with this account?

Thanks.

Will do. I have a couple of leads I'm following and will let everyone know if I hear anything.

Three weeks away from the computer sounds like my kind of trip! Have a wonderful time Valygri and thanks for all your hard work.

I've been doing a lot of work behind the scenes and was told that Tacos had been transferred from Tokyo to a special rehab hospital in Hiroshima. I sent a registered letter to the Hiroshima hospital , return receipt, through the Japanese mail. Unfortunately, it was returned to me after a week, saying that the recipient was unknown.

I'm hoping that she has improved enough to be moved back home and to do rehab as an outpatient since the last anyone heard from her that I know of, was a text message sent by phone saying that she could sit up now and was finally getting back some use of her right hand which was the last thing she was having trouble with.

If anyone has more recent info than this, please post it. Otherwise, I think we have to wait until she contacts us.

I guess I should have tried to get some contact information from her, as well :-(. The last time I went to see her her brother and two other gentlemen were there and it was very hectic as they were having trouble coordinating the flights for the next day. I gave her my cell phone number and, since she didn't know exactly where she was going and I would not be able to communicate with her family there, I didn't think to get contact info. I guess I just figured she would call or get on here or facebook when she was able. I do wish I knew how she was doing, though. Good luck with contacting her. I hope she is doing well.

Thanks for the news! It sounds encouraging.
At least now that she's checked Facebook she knows how many people are following her story.

I looked at the facebook page, updated 3 days ago -

http://apps.facebook.com/causes/306890/14201446?m=738e3cd0

It's been a little while since I spoke with Tacos...about mid Sept. She is staying at a Rehab centre in Hiroshima. At that point she was able to stand and make a few steps with some help. Things are looking very good for her! She IS able to check her emails but the doctor doesn't want her to spend too much energy writing emails back as it interferes with her rehab. So please, send her a hello. You may not hear back from her but I'm sure it will make her day. Below is a new email address.

This is tremendous news !!
