A key House committee with the power to impeach President Donald Trump kicked off a sweeping new investigation on Monday with document demands from the White House, Trump’s namesake company, charity, transition team, inauguration and 2016 campaign, as well as several longtime associates and the president’s two adult sons.
Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, a New York Democrat, opened his much-anticipated probe with letters to 81 individuals, companies and government entities, seeking a wide range of materials that go to the heart of allegations against the president — including abuses of power, corruption, and obstruction of justice.
Will this have teeth? Or is it just a gesture to get the AOC clan to cool their jets?

All the folks that say I don’t like Trump personaly but I support his policies so I’ll defend him are complicit in the debasement of the Republican Party. In 1974 Republicans were honorable enough to throw out Nixon for obstruction of justice. Today’s Republican Party acts like that’s no big deal. When all the truth comes out the Republicans will have poisoned their brand for a generation. Hopefully the never Trumpers like Romney (we will see how he votes on the ridiculous emergency declaration) can salvage what’s left and pull them from the right wingers and restore some honesty and reasonableness. But I’m not holding me breath because I’ve seen how 40% of the country would still vote for the guy.
