At the Oakdale Be-In I got high with Jimmy B and Jay T and I was in the driver's seat. We sat in the Roadent and talked and smoked (good sh#t, too, Jim--thanks!) and had a high old time at the expense of one of the presentations. Worth it, because the vibes were so good and it was just funking fun to reHASH old times and to LAUGH!
I would let either of them belay me while they were toking up, even.
It's a matter of personal trust. I don't know Brandon, yet, but I wouldn't NOT climb with you, Brandon, if you decided to go with another time and place. I would tend to go along straight, if that's what the climbing meant. Nothing is cut and dried, except the grass, of course.
It's not whether a person or a climber smokes, but an issue of trust.
In the immediate, one must not think of the past, nor what might come.
Be there now, not then.
But I would not trust a hemp rope in the hands of a straight person or anyone else, not even "the President of General Motors."
For those 40-and-over "matures" out there, like me, who remember BST--

I have enough trouble dealing with reality. But, like the Sage Mouse, I
have put my fate in the hands of those able to laugh at the mundane plane.
However, I would knott do so on a biggish mountain. I still rail at the
time we spent numerous hours driving to catch some prime winter conditions
only to find upon arrival that my ropemate's morning 'tea' led to his forgetting
his crampons.

My brother makes a small donation to his local Fraternal Order of Police in order to get one of their stickers to put on his car. He claims it's gotten him out of more than one ticket

Legislating THC concentrates: that shit's going Schedule I Locker!
From the link below:
We knew it was too good to last. In a process that has spanned over two and a half years, this month the DEA is scheduled to create a new (Drug Enforcement) Administration Controlled Substances Code Number for "Marihuana Extract.”
This drug code number will enable the DEA and their registered entities to track cannabis concentrates – such as highly potent BHO – separately from marijuana flowers and plants.
The concentrate-specific code was also necessary for the DEA to comply with international drug treaties – controlled by the United Nations – as there are distinctions between UN regulations for pot concentrates as opposed to marijuana and tetrahydrocannabinols, both of which the DEA has previously coded.
The DEA is proposing to create the drug code under 21 CFR 1308.11(d)(36). It will read, "Marihuana Extract meaning extracts that have been derived from any plant of the genus cannabis and which contain cannabinols and cannabidiols.” This designation will render all extracts as Schedule I drugs, defined as having no medicinal value, despite the mounting evidence that cannabidiol – CBD – besides being non-psychoactive, have proven to be highly efficacious in treating various afflictions.

Nice thing about wax is that it is compact, so easier to hide and harder for LEOs to identify.

Heavy pot users generally report lower life satisfaction, poorer mental and physical health, relationship problems and less academic and career success compared to their peers who come from similar backgrounds.
But take heart! There have been no studies about the effects of pot on climbing success.

The same statement could be made about heavy users of many substances. In my life, the friends I know that are certified alcoholics seem to be worse off overall than those that I know are daily smokers.
Moderation with just about all substances is the key...really.
Back on topic, I would think the Feds assume all climbers in National Parks smoke weed now more than ever.

Mark Twain has been credited with saying something like "I cannot understand why a man would ruin his life by indulging in one vice to excess when he can enjoy them all in moderation."
Speaking of pot and the Forest Service, someone over there must be smoking something...
USFS spends $100,000 for drones to look for pot farmers, but they can't use them.
