Apogee, Ron and I have personally witnessed poor service when we were waited on
by Sikhs working in convenience stores and gas stations.

You know, come to think of it, I also got very poor service from Pakastanis running motels

and Asians at the Chinese take out place up the street from me.

A lot of those people should learn to speak our language, ENGLISH.

Just sayin

and another thing that really gets me is to hear people from India trying to talk to me
if I get connected to a "call center"

what a joke they are!

talk about poor service

why can't regular Americans run motels and convenience stores anyway?

Can someone cite an example where an armed bystander successfully put down the perp without harming themselves or any other innocent bystander?

Links to actual, documented events would be appreciated.

Email strings or blogs from yer Uh-merri-kin gun-nut compatriot neighbor...notsomuch.

This week's example:

http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/local/orange_county&id=8758565

Five big, strapping FELONS. Complete with *hoodies*. They were going to kill everyone in that store. But ONE middle-aged woman WITH A GUN was more than their match.

This happens all the time. Almost never reported.

Chaz, no one would deny a jewelry store owner to keep a gun.

oh Ron, I'm just too polite and politically correct to just come out and say what I really think

in a way, I admire your ability to plain lay out exactly how you feel about things

I think that if I did, I would really piss you off

so I'm trying hard to be nice

A jewelry store owner is far more likely to be robbed and assaulted than the average citizen.

Using a jewelry store as an example of why most adults should carry a gun is silly. Nearly Jody silly.

The BEST one I have ever seen happened in San Bernardino in the 80s.

There was a liquor store at the Meadowbrook Housing Projects ( still is ) which is in one of the worst parts of San Bernardino - a town with NO nice areas. ( I know. I've partied there, Meadowbrook, that is )

Caught on surveilance video, four big, strapping, armed FELONS rush in to rob the place. The clerk, a little Korean guy, gives them what they wanted, but that wasn't enough for them. They start roughing up the guy's wife.

The Korean was thinking ahead, and had a stack of folded paper bags on the counter, with the top bag already open. The bag was open because that's where the clerk kept his .357!

The Korean picks up the gun - still inside the bag - and DRILLS one of the punks in the forehead. And then he does the same to the second punk. The third get's one right in the center-of-mass. This all happens within a second or two, and THE GUN IS IN THE PAPER SACK the whole time. You can see the sack expand each time he fires a shot! No way the Korean can see the sights!

The fourth punk had just enough time to decide he wants to run, and as soon as he turned around and tried to hop back over the counter, the Korean gave him two in the ass which sent him scurrying out the door.

The Korean sticks his head outside for a second. Satisfied, he walks back inside and sets the gun down on the counter. THE GUN IS STILL IN THE PAPER SACK!

It turns out the clerk wasn't standing behind liquor store counters when he was living in Korea. He had been in the military, in the Korean Special Forces!

Ive ALWAYS said it like it is Norton. Even in grade shcool to my teachers, or kissing a USFS career goodbye telling the dist ranger what i thought of his actions, or kissing and NDOT career goodbye over telling them like it was and defending my Indian buds. Tact has NEVER been an Anderson trait..i know my proper position in the "ranks".

A small retailer with a known cash flow should be prepared in all possible ways relative to being robbed no differently than branch banks - it would be stupid to do anything else.

And sure, robberies happen "where the money is", but that's far different from home invasions, muggings, random violence, the mentally ill run amok, or domestic terrorism. The effective defensive use of guns in those scenarios compared to the number of domestic shootings, murders and suicides employing guns - negligible.

I'm not interested in saving the day.

My concern is saving my own ass.

If I'm in a liquor store or someplace when it's being robbed, I'm running out the door and getting as far away as quick as I can. Especially if I'm armed.
