I'm very disappointed in this verdict.

Police not guilty in Kelly Thomas death; DA won't try 3rd officer

The story I just read went back to calling the beating a "scuffle".

Bad choice of words for a brutal beating that lasted 9 minutes and 40 seconds. Those murdering as#@&%e cops stopped when they new he was dead.

I am astounded at the jury's decision! What a bunch of morons that are not capable of cognitive reasoning.

Now those murdering cops go free. What BS! Another travesty of the US justice system.

Jesus! How the hell does a D.A. lose a case when he has a murder on video and the guys who did the deed positively identified?

Was something wrong with Dukakas? Or was something wrong with the idiot jury?

Unbelievable - cops getting away with murder yet again. There must have been jury tampering.

Also check out the retired cop who blew someone away at a movie theater just for texting during the previews. Turns out the guy is 71 years old - but has been retired for 21 years. This is another way cops rip off the taxpayers - pension schemes and disability abuse.

I recall a recording of one of the officers who was putting on gloves and telling the victim that " these are the hands that are going to f*#k you up "...Sounds like intent to me...? Maybe the DA needs a demotion...?

I wasn't in the courtroom to hear all the testimony, but I have to say that I am disappointed.

Manuel Ramos calmly put on his latex gloves, and then he calmly told Kelly that "these are the hands that are going to f*#k you up".

It was a seemingly calm situation..

He then proceeded to beat Kelly Thomas while Kelly cried for help.

He and his thug cop friends continued to beat Kelly lifeless till his face was an unrecognizable pulp.

Fullerton cops- the absolute worst and scariest criminals in America - now free to do it again.

It seems that no matter how egregious the crime by police, the courts have their back no matter what. Trial by "the people" ... yeah right.

Not any people that I know.

Anyone know why the Orange County DA himself tried the case ? He had not prosecuted a case in person since 1999 according to news reports ... a little rusty in the courtroom maybe ?

It's unbelievable that the charge of involuntary manslaughter or excessive use of force could not be proven by the inept O.C. DA ....

A criminal trial is really just a complex game of psychological manipulation, a sort of tug-of-war between two attorneys for the minds of those 12 citizens. Evidence and law can be helpful in winning a case, but are by no means required, and often overshadowed by the power of persuasion and charisma of the attorney.

As is the case, justice can be purchased at the cost of a better lawyer. I wonder if there's something we could do to improve the system.

It's unbelievable that the charge of involuntary manslaughter or excessive use of force could not be proven by the inept O.C. DA ....

And you know he is inept because why? Attorneys following the case have not spoken of any major blunders that were committed by the DA. I didn't mind that he decided to take the case on himself. It may have been partially politically motivated, but it sent a message(not received by the jury obviously) about how serious this case was. By all accounts he is a competent attorney, not some schmuck out of law school.

Murder cases against police officers are notoriously difficult. They have the right to use force to overcome resistance and have used that justification to win acquittals all the time. I am more inclined to blame the jury for being too dumb to see that the police were committing a homicide, instead of just "following procedure".

I'm shocked that so many of you feel so much superior to those who heard ALL OF THE EVIDENCE, and not just what was presented in the news media. You all got tooled by the media..AGAIN. .....AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. They sell news you know, and the worse they can make it sound, the more afraid or shocked they can spin it, the more money they make. You were tooled and someone made a buck off ya.

Ya stupid chumps. It's sad how dumb you all are. Ya deserve what ya get, unfortunately, the rest of us will get it too.

Chumps.

Couchmaster - do you feel superior to OJ's jury? How about Casey Anthony's? You are correct that I don't have all of the facts in this case - but something seems very wrong with the verdict. And it looks like the FBI agrees and will be opening a federal investigation. Plus Fullerton has already agreed to pay the decedent's mother $1 million and the father is gearing up for a massive civil suit. Something stinks in Fullerton - and, as always, taxpayers will get stuck paying the bill for these out of control, rogue cops.
