Gary, if he amended it to “there are too many high school dropouts to merit well paid jobs” would you stop swearing?

Reilly, the whole concept embodied in the phrase "working poor" sickens me. Why someone who works 40 hours per week need government assistance for food, shelter and medicine is unbelievable.

It's capitalism that causes the welfare state.

Hey Gary look at China and India the two most populous countries. Would you want to live there? If you do, you are a better person than them. Every Chinese and Indian I have met want to get out. Too crowded and too much pollution and not enough to go around.

See The Walton Family.

We subsidize their very existence.

Socialism sucks.

Welfare is a symptom of not having enough decent jobs to go around. Back to too many people crammed into a small space exceeding the resources. The definition of unsustainable is coming back to mind here again.

Strong family bond with two parents is essential to raising a productive and mentally stable person. I don't know any single parents that do a great job by themselves. You can choose to get sperm and raise the child yourself but it's not going to be the best scanario.

Ok the GNP of the US is 19 trillion. Divide that by the population of 325 million. That equates to 58,000 per person. Average profit is 12%. That is $7,000 per person every year. That does not seem like enough to go around.

Here are the stats on kids with one parent. Some parents do a good job on their own but two is best. I am sure some single parents are superstars and rise above but I am sure it is difficult.

Thanks Mike. I'm aware of the facts and it made the split that much harder.

I know you were thinking of other types of people.

It is difficult. Sometimes the dishes sit a bit or the dog hair collects in the corners for a week.

My response was maybe a bit passagro. Great test of my new duck back waterproofing and it did fairly well.

Hi Mike, My mom left an alcoholic husband and was forced to welfare to feed me and my brother and sister. It's guys like you and your misrepresentations who made me ashamed as a kid when my mom paid for groceries with food stamps- thanks for that! I suppose if she had gone to the local Methodist Church someone like you would have suggested for the kids sake, it's her duty to stay in a dysfunctional and damaging marriage. Fortunately it was the era of Women's Lib and she broke free. She used those food stamps to bridge the gap and went to Real Estate school and became a very successful agent. Meanwhile, my brother served in the Military as a Cobra pilot and is now an airline pilot. I became successful as well, due in part to the bravery of my mom going out on her own with the help of welfare. Ironically I provide dozens of jobs to people who think just like you. I hope you realize how damaging and hurtful your stereotypes are.

I was raised in a 2 parent family and didn’t turn out successful. Those stereotypes don’t always hold true .

My intent is not to stereotype people on welfare nor single parents. Welfare is an essential safety net for exactly someone like yourself. You mom married someone of weak character. It's unfortunate that people sucomb to drugs. They will destroy you in excess. Nobody is perfect and we need to help those people the best we can to rise above. I'm getting at the generational welfare and someone who never gets off of welfare and the fact they can make more money being single and having more kids to make more money. Once you start working the systems the system no longer works. It becomes a bigger monster than what it was there to remedy. There are too many able bodied people not willing to work because welfare will provide a better living. I see it every day. People on welfare refuse to work too many hours because their benefits will end. There are not enough good paying jobs to support the excessive population. You can only get so much out of an area and when the population density exceeds the resources you end up with someone losing. Sorry to offend, I am just passionate about providing the best for everyone and trying to help find a solution so we don't need to pay the piper (bear the consequences of an action or activity that one has enjoyed).

These are the pipers I am worried about and the current world leaders are taking us to meet them at speed. I thought AOC might have been a savior at first but now I think she is just crazy as the rest. Fusion reactor is our last hope. Maybe AOC could jump on that bandwagon and generate some urgency.

Actually my Dad served in the US Navy aboard a destroyer during Vietnam. He was simply an alcoholic. He recovered when I was 13 and we became best of buds until the day he died (sober) about 5 years ago. Mike, some people struggle but don't count them out. This vision you have of the all American, two parent family is mostly a myth. Let the idealistic liberals do what they do- we should respect their efforts.

There is some truth to that, but there is also a fact that white people will refuse to do menial labor such as picking crops. That is an undeniable fact.

I don't know any single parents that do a great job by themselves.

I am sure some single parents are superstars and rise above but I am sure it is difficult.

Contradictory statements.

Two more capitalist shitholes. The truth is that the world is run on capitalist principles and the vast majority of the world lives in squalor.

Finland just concluded a two year experiment with a minimum guaranteed income. At the end the losers were still losers. Finland’s unemployment rate is fairly low, at least by Euro standards, but few in the trial got off their couchs and even looked for work.
