That wasn't a smirk at Obama.

I was just being your ordinary liberal!

The other day a chick was ranting about, well, here's her arguement.
She thinks everyone should make the same amount of money, and be given the same opportunity, then goes to say this:

charlie sheenmight want hecka ccoke one day... he is most likey going to fork out the doe and get the best wuality he can find and what evr else that cartel may bring in gets left for the streets

Then "Vote for Obama!"

Just had the range to myself.

92 and cloudy, light breeze.

Ran through some rapid engagement drills.

Practice ain't cheap, but not practicing could cost more.

Who's gonna pay for it?

Maybe a city ordinance to have to hire an armed guard for any event with over 100 people?

That seems fair. I'd feel safe knowing there's an undercover cop / air marshal type dude there with me. Those guys are boss.

One of the women killed escaped a mall shooting in Toronto no long ago.

It speaks volumes about our society and [corporate] priorities that keeping our nation absolutely flooded with cheap firearms is protected by biased interpretations of amendment verbiage pertaining to times and conditions which haven existed for a hundred years. The number of self-defense uses of guns is so phenomenally out numbered by suicides, accidents, domestic/drug/random violence as to be a joke if it the consequences weren't so damn tragic.

For every one of you 'responsible' gun owners prepared and capable of self-defense there are a 1000 wackjobs. You know the odds are skewed because neither Ron, nor one of their many Ron proxies, were at that movie theatre. I guess what we really need - to counter the inevitable - are robotic weapons mounted in every public place to take care of the unavoidable percentage of wackjobs who start firing in public given the cheap and easy access to guns.

"and Yes Kurt, condolences have been issued. "

Bullshit, Ron.

This thread went from zero-to-gun-whackery in the same short time that these threads always do following a tragedy like this.

I tried to make that point early on this thread, but the pro-gun wave had already crested (like it always does).

Live round shot at me? No

Live weapon drawn on me? Yes, followed by my live draw.
VERY fortunate that confidence and efficiency on my part scared perp into backing down... Training paid off.

The only time i've ever had to draw an arm in public was at a party on this drunk dude.

He woke up with a permanent marker penis sleeve.

Been shot at more than once and heard plenty fired in anger but what is really scary were some of the rockfalls I was in in the mountains.

My bet is that the majority of the pro-gun types that chime in on these threads bear a striking similarity (in terms of training and breadth of actual field experience) to many of the self-proclaimed experienced 'guides' who have climbed a few years, then taken an AMGA/PCGI/etc top rope instructor's course and call themselves 'highly skilled & experienced'.

I've never taken a training course for weapons.
Then again, I'm gifted with common sense.
I also don't conceal.

Does that make me a bad person Apogee?

It'd of never happened, Hank. Duh. But since he's banned...

If he wasn't banned, he'd of been there to show he is the law in force.
Probably would have single handedly arrested the perp after a physical altercation. Then pulled a celebrity over for a DUI in Malibu.

I know a lot of people like that, Michael, and I wouldn't characterize them as 'bad'.

I wouldn't necessarily consider many of them good climbing partners, though, or capable of making good judgements and taking effective action consistently in extremely difficult situations (i.e. crowded, smoke-filled, dark movie theatres with screaming people all over the place).

Climbing partners? What are you going on about?

Everyone is different. Just because they like guns, affects the way they're climbing partners?

Tons of guns doesn't make it better.

This is why it's such a flip flop issue. There isn't much you can do.

I'd rather nobody have guns, then anyone.

But, people will be themselves, crazy or criminal. They'll have their means. They'll use em'.

Damn grey areas.
