Okay - so I just talked to Steve (it's 10:20pm here in CO) and he is still a pitch below the good ledge on the WoEML and therefore three pitches from the top. He got pretty wet on the last pitch, and sounded a bit cold, but determined to keep going. Evidently he's getting a lot of drippage from snow off the top. If needed he said he had enough rope to make it back down to EC Towers, but is trying to avoid that. So he's reorganizing and is going to punch it to the top. He'll be good once he gets through the next pitch since he and I did the last two pitches last spring when we did Tribal Rite.

Wish him PSYCH, warmth, and a safe passage!!

(I really dig these real time reports from off the wall. It's like a page turner novel, you just want to keep reading to see your hero thru to the summit!)

Good vibes for getting off fast and safe.

Reminds me of when I soloed Zodiac in 1982. It was late june but a freak storm rained and snowed on me. I didn't even have a sleeping bag. People were being rescued everywhere.

Some friends had a walkie Talkie in the meadow and I had one on the wall. I was trying to figure out what to do and they passed the radio to Shipoopi who gave me the scoop. More rain predicted, better to climb when possible than sit tight. I climbed inbetween rainy bit and made the top.

He said he wanted some adventure and suffering but not to die. Sounds like he got it just right with the caveat that we better be careful what we wish for.

Too bad you're not fatter Steve, but hope it goes great

The last pitch on the Genesis topo is a right-leaning diagonal A3 crack with a penji at the end into WOEML, so doesn't look too dire.

Send it, Steve - I need you to free climb for me!

I always feel it's counterproductive to say "BUMP" on a climb-in-progress thread, but you get the idea. Any news?

Just got back from climbing.

Had a message from Steve at 12:45pm this afternoon Cali time - he was on top - super cool!!

He said he had a very cold, wet night which was pretty dire, and the last few pitches were also wet.

Anyway - I expect to talk to him when he gets down probably tomorrow. He's probably back down at EC Towers by now.

Good vibes and safe climbing until ALL the way down. I'm sure he'll post up here with all the gritty details in a few days.

Glad to hear he made it. Nice! Can't even imagine being wet up there this time of year. Suffer city. Wonder if he made himself promise to never do anything like this again. Look forward to the TR for sure.
