Congrats Anita! You must be stoked to be rid that thing. I'm betting if you turned the camera around we'd all see a big smile!

Susan: bleeding is normal. They took out 8 pins drilled straight through my tib!
This is a temp cast. I get it replaced Friday morning with a patella bearing cast w a heel to walk. Going to try climbing with it next week in Yosemite. Booyeah!
Mike: you got metal too? Apparently there's still a screw in me but my doc said it can wait.
FVCK METAL!

Ummmm... Yes, and no. I have one leg that's held together by enough metal to start a scrapyard, and I'm sure not complaining.
But I can understand your euphoria at getting rid of that metal monster that was on (and in) your leg.

Ghost: For sure. I had a plate and screws for over 20 yrs that held everything together until they were no longer needed.
The pins were just awful - open wounds for 6 months, skin pulling every time I'd lift my leg or bend my knee too much. Good riddance!

Good God, Man:-) said with a stern british accent
and thank god for
modern torture tech
Anita I said it before you are the Man
that is for sure a long fixed road with more to go
In my case the heel and foot were re attached
that took just under three years to get all the way
back. (fell in '94 danced at my wedding '97)
then in a flash five years past.
I climbed, and thats all I did for twenty three years.
nothing stopped me not a broken neck (c5,6 fusion no rods, just plate&screws)
more bone grafting the harvesting of which really hurt
Still I would return to the rock
then came KIDS who will now take over the computer
Before I am through
Keep on smiling
every one.....my X-rays don't scan well

Thanks, dude.
I can no longer relate to the suffering of mere mortals (ie: people who complain about colds, flus, allergies, period cramps and other such banalities)
