A couple of months ago it was a very sad day when I had to have Nokie, our Siberian Husky put to sleep. She lived a great life and had us totally "wired."

hey there chiloe... and all.. say, BUMP... as---i NOW have my pup-dog that i wanted, when i had thought i would get a loan for a small older farm house---sadly, it all fell apart cuase i was self employed:
but--i didnt want to forget about the dog... my boss-lady let me get it, in spite of my tiny place and 5 cats... and extrememly low pay check :O
so, bump... :)
i will post her pics tomorrow, as i have to go sleep now... odd hours make me not feel too alert... used to be--- i was doing right-fine... :) ... seems odd now, for me...

i love that dog park up in Louisville, nice park, lotsa nice dogs. one of the nicer spots jersey and i have been too.
i wish he wasn't such a maniac, can't have him off the leash unless we have a fence around!"

There are fences at Tom Sawyer, and now I think the Cherokee Park run has a fence as well.

Thor looks like he'll make for a fine cat chaser, you can see it in his eyes.
He'll never chase a fisher cat or a bear up a tree, as Jack has done. But today Thor is
doing something Jack will never do: flying across the country with his people. He's
supposed to stay in this carry-on doggy bag, but Thor has charisma, so on the way
out here no one minded that he spent the whole flight free, snuggled down between his
adoptive parents.

The great Swedish physician and humanist, Axel Munthe, was also renowned for his love of animals. His lyrical romance, The Story of San Michele, is as much about animals as anything. It was one of the best selling books of the 20th century. He had this wisdom on a sad subject:
"Alas! the life of a dog is so short and there are none of us who have not been in mourning for a lost friend. Your first impulse and your first words after you have laid him to rest under a tree in the park, are that you never, never wish to have another dog; no other dog could ever replace him, no other dog could ever be to you what he has been. You are mistaken. It is not A dog we love, it is THE dog. They are all more or less the same, they are all ready to love you and be loved by you. They are all representatives of the most lovable and, morally speaking, most perfect creation of God. If you loved your dead friend in the right way, you cannot do without another. Alas! he also will have to part from you, for those beloved by the gods die young."
Munthe lived from 1857 - 1949, was the youngest doctor then qualified in France in 1880, and was renowned for treating anyone, from the very poor in the slums during epidemics, to the royal family of Sweden. hey there all, my ex put my dogs life through much sorrows, in different ways, due to him not allowing the best for them--which i could not understand why....
then, he finally took some of my dogs away, because the lady next door did not like it when one of them had pups... he took his anger out on her, at the poor dogs... they had never bothered him before...
my sadest and one of my very very few regrets in life, was how our second dog had to life, in one of our old shacks we lived in---we had to keep it tied too much so it wouldnt get hit by cars, and one day, we found it dead.... we dont know if the neighbor poisoned it or not--it was very sad.... i fogot how we got the dog, too---it might have been to replace the one that he put outside oneday ( i stupidly had trusted him, and it never came back)... yes---it has been said that poor folks should not have dogs... but i had taken good care of it, until i learned he would not allow from more expansion of the yard for it... so i felt very wrong, that i had hurt the god.... i think i have forgiven myself finally---it had just loved the dog and not wanted it to have that sad life that we all were kind of having at that time...
well, when things were better, that is when i had the two newer dogs and he pretty much ruined the home we tried to have, and took the dogs to the pound at that time.... now, i can see that it must have had to go that way---as i got out of town fast, about ?a month later? or so... maybe someone adopted the dogs, but most lilkely not....
too sad... but i was not able to get the back, as, i had no place to take them... very good dogs they were... (need to stop crying, now, huh, :( .... yep)
okay, well now, here i am on my own and i have cats, and never thought i'd ever have the pleasure to have another dog...
here she is... pattie-ann-marie... i will go upload some pictures and post them here soon (few more minutes)...
it is a good thing that the good lord knows my heart and what happened, or i would feel very bad and dirty for what happened to my beloved dogs... yet, at times, i still do feel very sad for it-----just like what mighty hiker posted: the notations from the man, that he mentioned, just a bit above this post... dogs are special

hey there... thankful for my new pup-dog:
patty-and-marie (first, at the animal rescue/pound):
at home on HER sofa, but she sleeps in her crate til house-trained, before she had her harness on:
her first day home:
her favorite toy:
patty-ann, out in the snow (she points, too--she is part lab, and part shar-pei) (never seen this combo before, but i have heard they are common now)...
she loves to run--but seems to just like taking a walk, best of all:
here is her black tongue (i had to use peanut butter to get her to open up):
here is a good view of her WRINNKLED COAT---she has a very thick neck, when i got her home, i now have to use a harness, or her collor is either too tight, or slips off:
*ps, there is also a dog hybrid called, sharp eagle, and they are crossed between a shar-pei and a beagle... they almost look like her, too, but perhaps shorter?

Thanks, neebee. And Chaz sure has something offbeat to contribute from his kite-camera.
BTW, Jack (gazing seaward above) has a black tongue as well. At the kennel where we
parked him a few days ago, they wrote down his breed as "chow X".

hey there chiloe.... say, i was wondering how chaz did that... i had never seen anything like THAT before, and not even in magazines, etc... very well done, chaz....
say, that is funny, chiloe... "chow x" oh my....
say. i wonder how big patty ann will get, i can tell she has grown some, even now... she is very nice, but she really does like to mouth-up the cats... she does stop when i tell her, but she gets carried away, nearly, but never vicsious.... it still seems like too much rough stuff for me to used too, after having labs before, seems they were gentler...
