Just a scanner and an old version of Photoshop, I think it was Aldus Photostyler, nothing fancy. They were mainly just compositional exercises. Did another one of Eddie Whymper tumbling off a snow bridge, I'll see if I can find it. It was actually my favorite, but the gallery director I sent them to didn't like it for some reason. Got it here somewhere.

Found it. Still wonder why she didn't want to show it. I guess maybe not knowing the backstory made the "narrowly averted tragedy" part sort of opaque. Or maybe the pretentious title "g = 32 feet/secē" threw her off. Still my fav of the batch, though, for obvious reasons.

I'm with Ray Cintune; you have some nice work there.

My preference for Powell Turns a Rapid & Treed by a Bear over g = 32 feet/secē would be their compositional fragmentation, which helps to develop some rhythm for the eye as well as giving the mind some gaps to fill in, which is often the hallmark of truly compelling arrangement.

and Cosmiccragsman,

that one you posted, the "simplified climber" drawn from those pics, is really an attractive style. That's where I'm heading, finding a scene, then distilling down to it's essential components (like you did) applying a technique (just like you did) and slam em out - factory style.

I'm trying to reduce the numbers of possible "styles" down to a minimum too, so I can just use the same methods over and over.

That JT arch shot is awesome! Good color saturation in the rock, not to mention the sky.

Watusi,

Me likes that last one lots!

And I really concure with your political art --- classic. I would send those to the White House in an email.

Well, maybe not such a good idea. Gitmo isn't a vacation destination.

Mike's surrealism is accurate, brave and really well done
