Raydog--Art we did ourselves. C'mon, post your stuff!

Locker--Thanks for the compliment. This piece is 5'x 7' and took forever! (Being really into rock, rock art and horses, I had a field day though.)

about 15 minutes start to finish
the sliders at the bottom of the layers effects palette give
Sartre that cooked, charred look.

I was on an ancient art kick for a while.
This was made with Streamline 4.0 and Illustrator 10 before Adobe ported Streamline into Illustrator CS and improved it's functionality a lot.

I understand where current snowboard styling comes from and what it's about but...
I prefer elegance.

Listening to the Jim Croce song
one of the sad ones
that your dad used to sing
that’s on a 25 year old cassette
at the bottom of the pile
found during your annual ritual
of going through the old stuff
with cigarettes and cheap red wine
instigating the ache
the house is empty
except for the dog
that had to leave the room
because it wouldn’t sit still
and kept dropping the ball in your lap
breaking a type of spell
like the opposite of meditation trying to inhale melancholy
and have it close to you
slow dancing in your lungs to the music of the past
until it pushes tears out of your eyes
washing them with memory
so that they’re hungry for new sight

Haha! Yes Locker, I was teasing you!

JW--that fireplace is way cool!

TRG--Beautiful work...is it mixed media?

And Phillygoat...well, now I'm crying. That prose did something...I suppose I have a yearly ritual like that too. Thank you for sharing it.

City Hardness

Feeling out of sorts
from endless input.
News, promotion,
brand devotion,
sports.

Losing my story in the city.
It was strong once,
far from the lights.

The knowing self within
is talking with crows,
aural reaching for souls.

Seeking earth, rebirth:
fragmented in millions,
losing my mirth.

Digging, scrabble
for thread of story.
Frayed, afraid
amid sensation and glory.

City-fled, car-night
bed-head.
Only knowing away.
What will be found,
find again:
Listen, mend, befriend.

wow neat stuff everyone, good poetry too - so cool.
ok, just to show some awareness of the differentiation between illustration and art...what happens when history repeats itself over and over

Ah Raydog....the classic arguement there...Is Illustration Art?

Since I am an Illustrator/Designer By trade...I always like to hear why folks think Illustration isn't art. Personally...I feel Illustration IS art....for hire.

What sez you? Defend thine self! :-)
