I had the ablation procedure for a similar problem a couple of years ago. I had long runs of accelerated beats that I could not control. The procedure went like a charm. Felt fine afterwards, but within a year some form of pre-atrial fibrillation developed that was somehow connected to the former tachycardia. 5 - 10 second runs of 200 beats/minute when I was hiking.I hardly noticed it, but I'm on a simple and cheap drug now - two tiny pills a day - and get out and hike and exercise with no problems. I was 73 when this happened, and had had spells of tachycardia over the years going back perhaps 30 years, but they were rare and I could stop them manually.

I do have a low resting heart rate. The dang alarm kept going off because it was going into the 30s over and over again. The 30s were due to the drugs I'm sure. The alarm was killing my ability to sleep.
Happy for clean arteries! Worth celebrating!

My little brother was diagnosed with SVT when he was around 11 years old. They followed up with the testing to reproduce the problem (via electrical stimulus until the heart goes wild). Once they identified the misfiring electrical nodes, they went in and destroyed the bad nodes. It only took them one procedure where the instruments were inserted though the groin and collar bone. That was 14 years ago, all symptoms gone, never a reoccurrence. The only after effects of the procedure were some very substantial bruising for a week or two. From what I understand it is a seemingly low risk procedure. Get well soon!

Sorry to hear this. Although my ailments are all soft tissue related I know how much it sucks to get grounded as well as surgically enhanced...

Wow! Way behind the curve on this one. Glad you caught it and they figured it out. That can't be a fun procedure...
So how are you feeling now...?

Ablation - it is scorched heart! :)
Thanks for the thoughts. You know how when you stand up too fast and you are like "whoa...blacking out a wee bit"? That is how I feel all the time. Light-headed. Sometimes my chest hurts a lot. Other times not so much. Clearly the less I do the less it hurts. I do pretty little now. :/ And when I walk up a few steps or even talk a bit, I get winded. Feel like a geriatric patient! So I'm looking forward to the scorched heart procedure so I can play again! Less than a month and counting down.
And no doubt, thank goodness for insurance. It's plenty expensive even with it!

Tami, you have a good heart, I think you're odd in the head ;)
Crimpie, praying the docs will get dialed in a on a proper diagnosis and get you back in action soon. Pretty amazing what the docs can do these days with surgery and meds. I'm sure they'll have you up and running sooner than later.
