We aren't talking about welfare, we are talking about jobs.
Welfare is necessary to support those who can't. Are there abuses of the system? Sure. Nothing is perfect. But what do you suggest we do with those who can't work and support themselves: the homeless, the mother-less, the father-less, those who can't physically work, etc.?
We take care of them. That is the right, the moral, and the ethical thing to do.

What Norton said.
Nonetheless, it's a fight worth fighting, even if he won't win.

A trashed economy means Republican victory in 2012.
No jobs bill.
Seems like Obama is starting to stir a little bit- maybe he's listening to his advisors, maybe it's just campaign politics...whatever the case, it's too little, too late.

F&*K the economists. It's a job killer. Besides, that fool in the White House wants to raise the taxes on my big donors.

yes, barry gave his (latest) jobs speech to congress on september 8; here we are, a month later, and congress has done nothing
of course, you libs blame the repubs, demonstrating, once again, your ignorance on how our gov works
congress cannot act on a bill--cannot vote or even debate--until the bill is actually introduced/submitted to congress; the president CANNOT submit a bill to congress because he is not a member of congress; only a member of congress can submit a bill to congress...see, ONLY legislators are allowed to legislate under our system--it's called the separation of powers
so, NOBODY, not even dems, are willing to sponsor barry's bill...why? because the dems are worried about re-election, and they know barry's bill sucks...they won't even bring it to the floor (note, boehner has not stopped any dem bill) for a vote, which means they don't think putting repubs on record for voting against the bill will do them any good...and they probably know several of their own party will vote against
and, of course, we have dingy harry in the senate...after barry exhorted congress to "pass this bill now" in SEPTEMBER, harry openly declared he would not introduce the bill until OCTOBER...last week, mcconnell tried to make barry's bill an addendum to the dems' china bill but harry and ALL THE DEMS voted down the proposal...why would the senate dems not allow a vote on the bill???????? because harry knows he doesn't have enough DEM votes to pass it
and, yet, you call the repubs 'obstructionists'; half of the do-nothing congress is controlled by the DEMS who also control the wh...and, yet, you blame the repubs

I'm going to ask the same question here. Why can't we use our wealth for the good of the people? Why can't we do this here in America, the USA?
Here is a deep question. Could something like this be done here in the USA?
Should a Nation such as India, who has recently recently discovered a vast National Treasure, then use the worth of the treasure to help put Indians to work, and care for their poor, their homeless, those who are hungry, and those who are sick? Or should the Nation state lock-up the wealth and hide it away, along with its worth and value, and then never give like worth to the people of India?
If the people of a Nation give you (the governement of a nation) a 1000 kilos of Gold, and ask for like value in money in return from the Nation state, and then they turn around and ask that the money be put to use to put people to work, and to care for those less fortunate, has the Nation state lost any value? Has the Nation state given up its treasures? Has the Nation state acquired debt? I say it hasn't. So why not do this for your people?
Treasure trove of jewels, gold coins worth billions found under Hindu temple
http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/1019054--treasure-trove-of-jewels-gold-coins-worth-billions-found-under-hindu-temple
You can google more for better articles and even video regarding this incredible discovery. The amount of Gold historical relics and even the size of individual pieces of golden treasure is staggering.
From the article:
“The current market value of the articles found so far by the committee members would be roughly 900 billion rupees ( $20.2 billion),” one temple official who was not authorised to speak to the media told Reuters."
"As estimates of the treasure’s worth rise, a fierce debate is growing regarding what to do with the discovery, in a country where 450 million people live in poverty.
Leaders of the Hindu community want the wealth to be invested in the temple, while many intellectuals, including former Supreme Court judge Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer have suggested it should be used for the public good."
