I got some great news on Thanksgiving Day.
My dear niece's husband (nephew-in-law!), an exceptional father and all-
around great guy, just passed the one-year mark, kicking a can-a-day
chew addiction that had lasted more than twenty years!!
I am so proud of him!!

I finally quit Nov. 1, 2011. Over a year now completely cigarette free after 28 years of smoking like a fiend. Definitely the hardest think I have ever accomplished. You’ll feel like you’ve been to hell and back but you can do it.

Nice job to everyone who has been able to quit chew or cigs or whatever vice/addiction-it's tough stuff. I've watched my dad try so hard to quit smoking cigs (he has smoked since he was 12), and he has had times where he quit for a couple of years, then back on, then quit... I really worry about him now... I smoked from 15-25... I quit at 25 when it was suggested I might meet a nice man if I quit...
Vices/addictions are difficult, I REALLY want to quit drinking soda, it's EVIL, and really seems hopeless. I even once went to try to get hypnotized because nothing else was working. I was informed that I would not be a candidate for hypnosis... so I continue to wish I could quit, HA! I think soda will be viewed as cigarettes are now as time progresses. I have a 32oz mixture of Coke & Coke Zero each day-horrid chemical combination-love it & loathe it.

They tell me kicking nicotine is harder that putting down heroin.
I can say that this is 100% true.
I'm vaporizing nic right now. Better than smoking, but still a nic-monkey.

Keep trying, everyone. It's kind of a toss-up between obesity and cigs addiction which is the greater risk factor for everything that will kill you faster, or make your quality of life the most miserable.
Quit. Be healthy.

HA HA, I read the thread title as "quitting the Taco"
I've never been a smoker, but not sure which would be harder to quit?
