Maybe Max will post his side of the story, as well as about his adventures on El Cap, pre-ring.

"Fantastic story at any rate! (I still have my wedding band but my wife disappeared years ago.)"
Careful now. Even people with a sense of humor can get stoned.

hey there say, mighty hiker... oh my! :))
say, as to your quote:
Should this stuff go to the Yosemite Climbing Museum now?
certainly, yes!... ;))
well, you know, it IS climber history, and a very well known and special
climber, at that... :)
god bless and thanks for the fun "paperwork" trail, and where it
"should be filed" ... as we ALL surely understand paperwork overflows and aftermaths... ;)

jstan:
My comment was meant to be light-hearted; way past the trauma and actually enjoy the departed wife as a good friend, the way we started out.
The ring sits in a box full of other little mementos from my extended childhood and various stops along the road of life.

Not a problem in the world Tobia. I took it for what it was. A lighthearted look at something difficult in the past. That's how we all keep going.

I LOVE the picture/story post of the whole "return of the ring" - what a hoot! Such great luck. Congrats Roger!
It always stinks to lose something with sentimental value...and rare to find it again. Hooray for Supertopo and the power of networking!
