beejesus! I would rather take my chances with bear 46 and mama wolf than some of those creepy crawly things! On a side note I had about 8 ticks on me from some minor bushwacking last weekend. Be careful out there!

The other night I heard a noise while sleeping.Turned on the light just as one of those giant centipedes fell onto where my head had been.It was at least as long as my hand and as thick as my forefinger.Got away alive too.Hard to get back to sleep knowing that critter is still lurking around.

Jaysus Bovine, after watching that video I'm going to have nightmares about those centipedes.

And Leroy, your story doesn't help as well.

I have several intresting critters around here. more than enough to keep me busy.

Great Northern Gearhound: as seen in his natural habbitat guarding his horded stash of shiney trinkits.

Snowflake Morey Eel: begging for food, always.

Matched pair, West Asian Walletwranglers: very high maintainance, requiring great doses of US greenbacks and regular walks to shopping centers. Imported all the way from Pakistan, the one on the left is mine, the one on my right belongs to my brother in law.

Trade you a centipede for a Pakistani.

Hey Euroford, you need to get out more! The bling blazing off that climbing gear made me put my sun glasses on.

A pitch or two up the East Buttress on Middle Cathedral we came upon a giant swarm of ants. They covered about 35' of the route. The swarm was so dense that it was 3- 6 layers of solid ants. None of them bit but it was itchy being covered with ants. They doused us with formic acid as we brushed them off. Anyone else ever see swarms of insects on a climb?

I was climbing at The Homestead. I was just about to finish a route and put my hand on a spraying bug. The little bitch sprayed me right in the eye as I was finishing the route. I'm glad it was a TR run as I immediatly asked to be lowered so that someone may call me the whambulance. Them nasty litthe things stink. Nothing like grabbing a hold that's filled with the suckers and hearing them go crunch crunch. Spitting bugs and killer bees - return to The Homestead I think Knott.

Spent the night at aptly named Silver Fish Ledge on Mt. Watkins once with Tom Addison. Little suckers commited mass suicide by sneaking under us during the night. Had to hose off the porta ledge and pad when I got home. Ick! It was disgusting.

A very rare and elusive denizen of the boreal forests in N Sverige (Sweden). Apparently not found in Norway - too many trolls?
Usually seen only after closing time for some reason...

We were at Hueco BITD with some friends who weren't of our perverted persuasion so we were just scrambling around. We got to the top of one of the big ones and the four of us went into a big hueco that had a sort of bench. I sat down at one end and then looked down to see a centipede as thick as my thumb, and I'm not small-handed, and a good 5" long (OK, let the jokes commence) who/which had a death grip on a lizard a good 3" long! Geez, I expected Marlin Perkins any second. Of course, my camera was in the car.
