On a recent road trip to Wyoming we climbed the following:

Google earthers the trailhead is at 44 11 16 , -107 01 05

From the turnout hike up the old logging road about a mile, bushwhack NW to the basin to 44 12 18, -107 02 05. Rock whack NW to curious geography at a saddle. Aim NW to the obvious East Ridge. Scramble up the East ridge/side passing several deceiving ledges. There is a register placed in '06'. We increased the entries from 6 to 9. Loaf Mtn 11,722' Summit is at 44 12 47, -107 04 14. This is the first massive peak N of US Hwy 16.

Also, there is no trail - except for the short old logging road - there are no boot tracks. This is a forest/bush and rock whack the entire way.

Oh and mrs. museum was seriously injured on the descent. She took a tumble in the boulders on the return and was incapacitated for several days. She's better now. Thoracic Sprain.

Oh yeah there is a ton of snow in the high country.

Man/child did a fine job.

Perfect mountain weather - mostly cloudy to cloudy and 45F with a 40 mph wind.

The End.

Any TR with photos is a great TR in my book...but...daaaaaaaaammmmmmnnnnn that looks chilly! Beautiful, but chilly. (I usually look at those temps and think, "Hey, 45...no problem...", perpetually forgetting about that sneaky windchill factor and my genetic predisposition to quick-freeze, and underdress. Always summit with blue lips and numb white fingers.)

Hope Mrs. Museum is feeling way better.

Thanks for sharing a beautiful trip with us.

Get better Mrs Museum, Vedauwoo needs you in August.

My first thought was the Snowies, but the landmarks seemed wrong, perhaps the Bighorns?

Google earth style edit; I swear I didn't cheat, I'll have to give you my bro's family address in Gillette.

Ya, it's in the Big Horns...20 miles SW of Buffalo Wyoming. In the middle of nowhere actually.

That's some pretty topography, and some iffy-looking wx.
Thoracic sprain? Ouch.
Nice pics. Thanks.

Ya the wife is still on the couch..she might be ruined for this summer. At least through July.

Jaybro we'll be at the boogaloo - if she's still wounded we'll just prop her up in the corner...

Nice report! Thanks for sharing. That does look quite cold but I suppose that is more negotiable than the copious rain we have been suffering here in the east.

The sky, the slopes and all reminded me so much of Medicine Bow. We had exactly that weather, each time
I've been there.

Best wishes to Mrs Museum!

The Mrs. is way better. She says the pain is down to a 3 instead of a 10. I spoke with the doc today and she said rib 1 and 9 on the left side are at least cracked. Sneezing and coughing is still a problem, however.

Johnboy, Loaf Mtn - way at the south end. Cloud Peak is pretty far north from here. In the Summit area pic, Cloud Pk is obscured by clouds on the right. We started out for Loaf on the Sheep Mtn Road just below the abandoned lookout tower.

Nita, thanks! We would probably never vacation in Hawaii. Apparently we like it here! :D
