I predict some flaming... Since when is it a bad thing to give the people what they want and get paid for it?

What I meant was, YOU need to be ready for some flaming. Some folk might think you need a beating over your comments.

The way I see it... Layton has a product that won't be here forever. Layton has reasons to be needing an influx of cash. If people want to pay to see Layton, then... cool.

Onyx please, entertain us with your own adventures. Obviously you have something better to share.

Yeah, I hear that Kor is raking in millions, unfairly.

Onyx,

Just a thought - you might want to post this on Rockclimbing.com as well. Seeing as you and your alter ego FUNGUY over on Mountain Project are eager to get your "message" out, you might want to make sure you hit all the climbing boards.
UKClimbing.com could be next after that.
cheers.

I've had reservations about the way Layton has gone about presentations, but there are exigent circumstances, and ultimately supply and demand determine how successful the strategy will be.

If you don't want to attend, then don't, but suggesting a climber is mercenary laughably belabors the obvious. How many professional climbers do endorsements? Are they selling out their priciples?

Ultimately, Layton can have as many farewell tours he wants as long as he numbers them.

let the flaming begin. Many posts before this one (on mtn project) had convinced me funguy = total complete tool. Sorry the truth might set me free though.

Onyx must be a far better roped soloist than me. I do it because I enjoy it,...

not because I can't find a partner.

If the man can make a buck from his years of climbing and inspiration to all of us then so be it... he has earned every penny of it! You active climbers had better take note... you can't make a living at it (or dirtbagging)forever and some day you may just be in your 70's with declining health and no resources. Plan ahead and maybe you won't be dodging around in your eldery years trying to make the rent. You too will be old some day. So give the man a break and at least go see the shows.

It bears mentioning that Layton's manner allows for much extemporaneous discussion.

The same pictures can generate much different shows.

But even if they weren't, HTF many times do you get to attend a show by somebody who is so inspirational and at the same time so down to earth.

Onyx... Well now... I did warn you.

Piton Ron... Ouch! But spot on!

Jack Burns... I had to think for a minute. I was afraid a BAMF might be like a MILF...

I'd be like everyone else. Layton, the great 'un, is just
that. I'd pay even if I couldn't see him speak.
He's been there, done that. He's the real deal.
And very few of us poseurs could match the accomplishments
Mr. Kor has in his lifetime. I'm happy to follow some of
his routes, which are superb.

There are not many of our tall shoulders to stand on and big shoes to fill pioneers who have names that evoke universal awe and respect. Here is a legendary character who has two such names. Layton and Kor. Spoken together or individually those names convey more history of greatness than some people can readily grasp.

In my perfect world LK would be a Billionaire Philanthropist.
I just wish he didn't have to struggle with ill health and medical expenses.

There are a few climbs and climbers that many involved today can't grasp the ideas behind them.

Kor is one of them.
