I will be there, and was wondering if anyone would care to join me?
Maybe we could cook a traditional Thanksgiving meal?
Anyone interested?

I'll be there. How many people are you going with? Our party is about 10 people right now. I don't know about coordinating a meal with that many people, but maybe.
We could definately hook up for some parties at night. Get a huge bash goin'.

bluering,
I will be flying solo.
Yes, it is kind of difficult to coordinate a meal for that many people.
Maybe i could just bring some pumpkin pies for desert.

Zip, if you're flyin' solo I could prolly work something into our gang. We've got someone heading there the weekend before to try and get us sites together. I'll be arriving on Tuesday night before thanksgiving and staying through Sun/Mon. Do you have a tent or car sleeper?
We can work something out. When're you arriving/leaving Josh?

Coordinating Food Ideas -
Pre-cook Turkey, slice and double wrap in foil. Make a big fire the night before or in the am and put the foil packs under the coals to heat up.
Box stuffing and fake mashed potatoes can be easily and quickly made on the coleman stoves.
If you insist on the good stuff, pre-cook and place in quart size (not gallon or you'll be sorry)and you can place the baggies in boiling water to heat up.

Socalgirl, I will definitely be going. hope to see you there.
Bluering, I have a Sportsmobile. I will probably be arriving the day before Thanksgiving, and leaving on Sunday.
Dwain, Yes, I do have the awesome rig, but i can't carry a porta john like your rig can. I am looking forward to the pics. It was nice climbing and hanging out with you at JTSF.
Susan, thanks for the Beta on the food prep. As usual, you possess a plethora of useful info. What are you and Russ up to for that holiday? I imagine that you already have your place rented out.
Matt, the more the merrier. I will be in touch.
Brian, thanks for mentioning that. good idea, and maybe desert back in the park.

Argh... This maybe the first year I'll miss celebrating TG in Jtree for eight years running. We shall see. With fuel as expensive as it is and the uncertainty of getting a campsite all combine to demotivate me to go. Plus i'm in the midst of a big project and will be full steam ahead by thanksgiving. The weather the last few years has been hit or miss. I need to do some contemplation, I sure could use a few days of wandering in the desert.

It's hard to believe that you all are going to be anywhere but Indian Creek for Thanksgiving. No rules, no rangers, vastly superior climbing and Nature with the world's best sushi plus 100 really fun taco standers. Other than the fact that you might live in California, give me one good reason why i won't see all of you at IC.And the party is Saturday, so you can be with your family on Thursday. Anxiously waiting a response. The Doctor

The reason that I won't be going to IC, is because I live in So Cal, and can only get a couple of days off from work.

Actually, there are rules and rangers, and, its a little bit disconcerting that you don't think so.
I've never been pysched on the whole free-for-all type party scene at the "Creek". And seeing pictues of folks partying in guidebooks, along with stories of what sounds like high impact activities like burying turkeys in the ground doesn't help land managers image of climbers being good stewards of the lands they claim to care about.
Its a sensitive area, with sensitive access. Climbers especially are being scrutinized at Indian Creek. Please, follow the below.

A pack-in/pack-out policy will be enforced in all areas in the corridor without restrooms:

● Use of cat holes is prohibited.
● Leaving or burying toilet paper is prohibited.
● Packing out all trash and garbage is required.
● Screening or filtering of grey water is required before dumping.
All dispersed campers in the Indian Creek Corridor must take out their human waste. Waste disposal bags are available at the following locations: Super Crack, Superbowl, Creek Pasture, and Bridger Jack.

Saline Valley.......two words.
The turkey will be cooked in a pit, buried for exactly 4 hours and tender and succulant upon being excavated.
