Wow, i just saw this guy on Dateline and visited his website. You can see the arm being cut in the first picture on the site!! The site is www[dot]aralston[dot]com not his full name (it took me a bit to figure that out).

I can't imagine having to do what he did. ..not to mention, ouch!

You would think that the blood loss would be too great for him to survive after chopping his arm of. Has anyone read it?

It would be a lot easier to simply copy and paste the link:

"If Aron starts climbing big walls or moderately hard stuff, I'll find that very interesting. On the same level as Hugh Herr's story. It's not that/how he lost part of both legs, but what he did afterward that defines human spirit and is intriguing."

He did take up running and do the Leadville 100. That's taking a nice bite out of life (rather than wallowing in self pity, or just hanging out collecting royalties), IMO.

Hadn't heard all about Ralston and his stump in a couple hours. Thanks for the update.

He'll be visiting the Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe while pimping the book. Seriously.

According to John Edwards, if Kerry is elected, Ralston and people like him will miraculously grow new arms.

Unfortunately, Bush has exempted soldiers fighting in Iraq from the No Limb Left Behind program.

Aron already visited Changing Hands in Tempe last month. I unknowingly went by to sell some Audiobooks and there wasn't a parking spot to be found.

Once inside..........what a mad house HUNDREDS of people were there to listen to his talk and get their books signed. All walks of life from the granola type to the business saps. I guess his story is of interest to all types.

Ya know, coyotes have been known to gnaw their own legs off when they get snarled in a trap. Now if he had chewed through his arm, that’d be impressive!

chuckle.. cynical, are we?

now.. it does beg the question- how many of us WOULD have lopped off our arm versus give up?

and once in the media glare- how many of us would recede back into dirt-bagdom versus cash in on the 15 minutes.

Quit fantasizing about my pants. You will never get them, so there won't be
anything you need to do with them. I am concerned about this sort of talk;
it has never surfaced till now.

I am truly sorry if you are coyote-ugly.

Oh so that’s how it is huh Dave? One night of hot sex now you act like you don’t even know me. I see how it is.

By the way, how did the subject change from the tool formally known as Aaron Rolstostonvich (?) to my tool? Highly inappropriate.

aron ralston was an arrogant fool who is entirely responsible for what happend to him. he obviously made many critical errors from the start. i am happy that he is alive and that he did save his own life, but he did what anyone else would have done. big deal...if most of us were put in that situation we would have done the same thing.
