I asked what she wanted for her birthday, she told me a desert trip. I had some free tickets so off we went.
Our first desert trip was 35 years back -- see that "favorite summits" pic?

Chiloe--Your wife is simply beautiful! And what an awesome smile! She also takes some mighty fine photos herself as I recall.

AC, Locker, L, TIG, GO, Tar, Jaybro, Nohea, Crimpergirl, Mike, Riley, Feelio, Wootles, Nita ... thanks for so much good cheer. Jody, Feelio, Bob ... there's an idea here for yet another thread, if someone else doesn't get to it first.
She came upstairs this morning having been tipped off by Mrs. Wootles that her pictures were on the Internet. "Not those pictures," I said quickly. She enjoyed reading your comments.
The new scanner, it's way fun.
Not a great photo but who can forget the feeling as you turn the roof on this big pitch? Hobbit Book in Tuolumne, 1976:
Big change of life-pace, the next year at Lake Ypsilon in RMNP:
Ten years later, life-pace was changing again:
Anyone notice the bell-bottom jeans, in that 1974 photo on the Arches Terrace slab? Styles were different by the time we climbed this slab, Black Jade on Whitehorse Ledge, in 1988:
OK, I'll stop now after one more from last week -- Lisa's Shoulder in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Ya I saw those bell bottoms.
It's part of the essential charm of the shot.
Hey Chiloe, It looks like I might be in North Conway June 15/16, tagging along with my hero, Lisa, as she's going to be running the Mt Washington hill climb.
I've never climbed in the East.
Any chance we could rope up?

Hey Tar, I'd love to meet up with you. If only I'm in the country! There's a complicated business trip in the works, details are murky but should clarify within the next week. I'll let you know soon as I know when I'll get home.
Has Lisa run Mt. Washington before? I did that a couple of times in my youth, before joints went all to hell, it's quite the road race. Not that I was competitive. There's fine cragging and hiking throughout the area too, I could go on about that. Cathedral and Whitehorse, the big North Conway crags (see two 80s photos above), are about 45 minutes down the road. Mt. Washington itself has a few rock routes, and there's a baby crag right across the street. Also much else, mostly off the SuperTopo radar.
cheers,
L

Hey Chiloe--Stop forging my signature!!!
Happy Birthday Mrs. Chiloe! We should be putting this whole feature on SS's True Love thread...there was a dearth of time-proven romances over there, and this one would definitely prove that it's still possible!
All the best,
L

Yes Chiloe,
Lisa has run Mt Washington: she won the women's masters category, recently, maybe last year.
I'm very interested in a modest introduction to one or two of those classic Eastern granite venues; Cathedral, Whitehorse, Cannon come to mind.
You can reply to my supertopo email when you get your schedule firmed up.
Cheers,
Roy
