I'm also posting this (current last-page capture after bump was deleted) for posterity,
because the 20+ bumped threads will eventually fade off the front page...

Lois, I downloaded a program to use on my Windows XP installation, but I can't seem to find it.
You can use Print Screen in XP, but there are apps you can use for making selections
to capture (knott just the whole screen). Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can chime in.
On the Mac, there's a great built-in capture utility. Command Shift 4 brings up cross-hairs
that you can use to select an area to capture. Command Shift 3 for the whole screen.

I think the "official" screen capture software is
SnagIt by Camtasia Studio
- it's what I use, sooper easy -
I think something like >Alt Print Scrn< will capture the whole screen in XP.

That was, a good response.
I think Woody retired to become a fulltime climber, sorta.

Wouldn't it be easier to just use the "Print Screen" button?
That's kinda why they put it there, you know.

Screen images into word:
Put up the image on screen
Apple/shift/3
Puts a picture on HD
Go to HD, hold down option while selecting the portion of image wanted
Paste into word
Right now I don't seem to be able to paste this into ST. Might have to be treated as a jpeg?
As to not wanting to have my posts bumped, that's not going to happen to me. Nonetheless, anytime I let too many of my personal idiosyncracies creep in - I worry because I have not concentrated on just making the best possible logical argument. This is the slip that makes one vulnerable. Eh?

hitting the print screen button can do the same thing as the "copy" function (except it copies the entire screen). Then open a photo editing program, Word, etc.., hit Ctrl-V, and presto!
That's three key strokes. Is that fast enough?
edit: and it captures instantaneously. When you hit the button it captures what is on the screen at that moment.

Lois - it sounds like you need something that captures motion on your screen,
and turns it into a movie. However if the image appears on your screen for a full
second, that's plenty of time to "snap the shutter" - whatever that entails
(usually a simple mouse-click once everything is set to go). Shouldn't be too hard...

HK you first said I should go away. Thanks for the offer, but I find it instructive to tune in once in a while and check on the status and bahavior patterns of the lowest common denominator. Many thanks to HK and locker for providing an update.

HI Dufus,
On the dog thread you came across as a decent person, but here you come across as a condescending punk. You wrote,
" HK you first said I should go away. Thanks for the offer, but I find it instructive to tune in once in a while and check on the status and bahavior patterns of the lowest common denominator. Many thanks to HK and locker for providing an update. "
All HK did was out a punk who was toying with the forum by trying to create angst. I don't see anything wrong with trying to put a stop to that. If someone was anonomously messing with you, you would probably appreciate someone helping you figure out who it was. So what is up? Why are you dissing on HK and why do you think you are so superior to everyone here on supertopo? What makes you so much better?
Edit: Dufus, I apologize in advance if I have screwed up in my understanding of your intentions. I am not interested in having a battle with you. I would like to understand your post. There seems to be something incongruous in your post. The kind person in the dog post compared to what looks to me like an arrogance on this thread. Thank you in advance for explaining.

Moosie. Your post rightly slaps me down in a respectable and respectful manner. I'll shut up and leave the politics of ST to others. I was looking at the entire thread out of the context that you provide. That said, the return flames were probably of higher caliber than the initial volley.
BTW, that was my wife on the Ivan thread, who is a decent person. Better than me.

LMAO, to quote Crowley.
You all DO know that Crowley = Snooky, right?
I wonder what he's got against JB?

Thanks Dufus, I think inherently you must be a decent person or your wife wouldn't have married you. Congratulations on marrying a fine woman. She must be a blessing. Peace Brother....
Wild Bill, how is it that you believe that Crowley = snooky ? Do you have any proof?
