Is it all covered in The Miller's Tale?
In Oxford there once lived a rich old lout
Who had some guest rooms that he rented out,
And carpentry was this old fellow's trade.
A poor young scholar boarded who had made
His studies in the liberal arts, but he
Had turned his fancy to astrology
And knew the way, by certain propositions,
To answer well when asked about conditions,
Such as when men would ask in certain hours
If they should be expecting drought or showers,
Or if they asked him what was to befall
Concerning such I can't recount it all.
[intermission]
The people laughed at such a fantasy;
Up at the roof they all began to gape,
And turned the old man's harm into a jape.
No matter what the carpenter insisted,
It was for naught, his reasons were resisted.
With such great oaths the fellow was put down,
He was considered mad throughout the town;
Each learned man agreed with every other,
Saying, "The man is mad, beloved brother,"
And everyone just laughed at all his strife.
So she was screwed, the carpenter's young wife,
Despite all jealous safeguards he could try;
And Absalon has kissed her nether eye,
And Nicholas is scalded in the rear.
This tale is done, God save all who are here!

"Wind" is the common name for Mariah. "Fire" is the common name for Joe. "Rain" is the common name for Tess.
All three are good peeps and are cousins. The family name is Storm and they are from out West somewhere.

According to Steven Wright the wind is caused by trees bending back and forth.

I think you all are overlooking an important aspect of "wind"
in particular, after you wind, you can count it... it is quantifiable... check it out:

In Patagonia the wind is called La Escoba de Dios.....the broom of god. Considered an apt description by those who have experienced it.

What is wind?
I'm not entirely sure.
But whatever it is, if it blows at over 100 km/hr and you and your partner take the tent fly between you and blast over the surface of a frozen lake, you may see god.

In Patagonia the wind is called La Escoba de Dios
Boy, howdy, when I was met at the Calafate airport with my rental car the
first thing the guy said was
"ALWAYS park facing the wind!"
What he didn't tell me was how I was sposed to get out of the car when I
got to Los Torres. I had to wait for a lull to open the door. That was
like five fukking minutes!

The Unseen Power
We are the flute, our music is all Thine;
We are the mountains echoing only Thee;
And movest to defeat or victory;
Lions emblazoned high on flags unfurled-
The wind invisible sweeps us through the world.
