Feasting on meat, my favorite part of Facemeet. I mean Facelift. It's never too early to think about the next Facelift, is it?
Hope to see you there, everyone!

Looking forward to seeing everyone in September, and of course helping out.
The YCA will start taking camping requests on May 1st: http://www.yosemiteclimbing.org/facelift-2016/
Moose, mouse, whatever - four legs good, two legs good too.
Hopefully by autumn the situation regarding place names will be sorted out, given that many of us will keep on using the historical ones out of forgetfulness, obstinacy, or both.

SC, Did Housekeeping Camp get to keep its name?
Apparently so. I did not see any change noted on that location. I should follow up to make sure my reservation carried over.

Not sure if we will be attending this year. To be honest, I hope we won't be, simply because we are already 6 months behind on our plans to move to Europe, and things need to start solidifying or I am going to have to take a different path.
If we are around we will be there of course, although my health will probably prohibit me from doing much. Mister E, will miss you at the gathering!
We will see how it goes.

Delhi Dog, we were discussing whether human activity is responsible for the yellowness of the pines in camp.
TT is an expert witness concerning large woody objects.
Turns out it was simply a misspelling on the part of the NPS sign shop.
It's supposed to be Mellow Pine Group CG, not Yellow Pine Group CG.
Always the pedantic one, I am.

DNC apparently trademarked "Facelift", so the event shall now be known as "Tummy Tuck".
I'll be there, ready to scour the woods and trails for improper evidence of human passage.
See you all at Mellow Pine!

From the Yosemite Climbing Association webpage, as noted by Mighty Hiker earlier:
Yosemite Facelift 2016
The Yosemite Facelift starts with an evening program 9/20/2016 and ends at midnight on 9/25/2016.
We will start taking camping requests May 1.
Please include names of people in your party, what nights needed, and campground choices in order of preference. Tuolumne, Yellow Pines, Camp 4 and Upper Pines will be available.
C U all then!!

I'm very sorry to report the recent passing of Michelle (Missy) Carter, who was a real friend of the climbing community. She died in a motor vehicle accident on April 5th, near Mariposa. I don't know if Missy did much climbing, but she was certainly an active presence in Yosemite. She had the distinction of having been born and raised in the Valley, worked for the National Park Service for 23 years, and was a ranger supervisor.

Many of you may recognize Missy from your trips to the Valley, and the Facelift. She was a staunch supporter of the FaceLift, and helped in a myriad of ways, including camping. Despite what must have been a challenging job, Missy was always cheerful and organized.
This has been a severe blow to the tightly-knit communities of Yosemite Valley and El Portal, and the NPS. My condolences to Missy's family and numerous friends.
There will be a memorial for Missy in El Portal on Saturday, April 16th.
