Tom, on many occasions I've enjoyed your pictures and commentary without saying anything, but I haven't really appreciated the role you play as a catalyst for bringing the climbing community together. I often feel lost when co-workers make a reference to a recent movie or Tv commercial because I'm pretty out of touch with that stuff, as I suspect is the case for many climbers. But I'll bet a huge number of climbers will be able to look back on this as a specific moment in history where we were all paying attention to something special in the making. It's not a cure for cancer or ending poverty or suffering of political repression, but it is elevating our spirits in a way that is evident to any observer, on a scale that doesn't happen too often. You don't have to be a climber to respect years of hard work at an elite level, the resulting progress and perseverence, and the personal stories of overcoming adversity and honoring a friendship and a joint commitment to find a win for all parties. That stuff is gold on every level.

Tommy and Kevin are up there getting it done with full limelight shining on them, and you have been an ambassador not just to the media but for all of us to vicariously share this experience and bring us all a little closer.

Thanks for that.

excellent news.
my emotions well up too, tom.

a magnificent struggle, overcome.

it is inspiring to watch and though
none of us can precisely empathize with kevin and tommy
we can all dance to their song
in our own stupid little struggles
like cranking out a mundane work-shift,
finishing a difficult-to-speak sentence,
hugging a villian,
forgiving a foe,
raising our children,
or just pasting a worthy life on time's wall.

great read.
someday the history books will quote you.

Ho. Lee. Crap. I'm so stoked for Kevin and Tommy! I'm with Tom. I was tearing up a little reading his narrative and seeing the pics. Let's cheer them to the top!

Tom,
I've read dozens of your reports, and watched through your lenses my friends progress on the stone. And you've had excellent photos over the years, that is for certain.

But this report brought out more then just some simple pics of guys climbing. To me, it's the very best ever. From the first shot of Tommy with Kev on the ledge, to the pick of the crux where so many times gravity won out. F*#kin' A!!! What a stoke.

I like what Nuts said--1/9/15, that report has a way of bringing together the passion of so many. What a fantastic story.

Time to head back up for the finish....I suspect you are not quite so alone in the Meadow as when we last saw you.

Thank you Tom!
