Greetings Supertopians! Our names are Joe and Heidi and in a couple of months we will be moving to Fresno and looking forward to connecting with you!

We have 3 little kids and love spending time with them on adventures. For us, climbing has always been about relationships….ours as a couple….the relationship we have with our kids….and the many friends we've made and met over many years of climbing.

We love camping…and have always camped with our kids since their very first days! It kinda reminds me of an old proverb that says, "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." I suppose we've taken that to heart.

We also love traveling with our kids. Road-trips across north america or to places around the world have taught us a lot as a family.

^^ Here we are at an orphanage in the Dominican Republic. Our newest son, Noah, was a few months old.

We love all types of climbing.

Multi-pitch trad is our favourite type of adventure. Our favourite place to spend time is Squamish (our local spot) but Red Rocks and Tuolumne Meadows are particularly special places of ours.

We love alpine climbing….rock

or ice (mostly Joe).

In the winters we are avid skiers and Joe especially with regard to backcountry skiing. He loves the way it's slow enough to talk with his partners on the skin up, adventurous enough to keep him interested, and fast enough on the way down to have some fun!

We also love to spend time as a family in beautiful places. Having lived in British Columbia for almost the last 10 years, we have spent time in some incredible places!

We also love just going to the crag, kids in tow, friends, some climbers some not, and just setting up top ropes for people! It doesn't always need to me a summit for us.

In a couple months we are moving to Fresno and looking forward to spending more time in Yosemite and Sequoia and heading to the California Coast for some fresh breeze. Those of you in the Central Valley are close to everything we love!

Anyway, not sure if anyone is really going to read all this…..but just wanted to introduce ourselves and say we'd love to connect with some of you in the Fresno and surrounding area come January!

Peace,
Joe and Heidi

Welcome! You look like a really nice family.

I grew up in Fresno. You are right about it being the total hub of California, very centrally located. I've seen it grow from the time I was in grade school from 45,000 to at least 10 times that. Did anyone tell you that it is the asthma capitol of the USA? This place will shorten your life by years. The city's answer to air pollution is to build another freeway. I hate to be so negative, but you need to know this. You won't be giving up good Canadian health care will you?

Again, you are welcome, but I would think twice about this. All the Best..........

WhiteMeat - Thank you! I appreciate the invitation. I've actually visited Bishop Peak in 2010 on a climbing trip through California.

I actually wrote a little blog about it here: http://www.joeandheidiwhite.com/2010/03/rockclimbing-biship-peak.html

I'd love to take you up on your offer though! Thank you!

….all the responses on this thread made me smile. I think I am going to like it here :)

Welcome! Welcome!

Hugs and Howdy to the Campfire. Several of my grandkids spent their first time at Sawmill Campground, Tioga Pass, when they were two weeks old.I think you'd enjoy meeting their parents, my daughter and son in law. They rock their family the same way you do and are close by in Carson Valley, NV.

I work at Tioga Pass Resort summers. Hope to met you and climb with you and the kiddos.

Cheers, Peace and Joy, Lynne

Edit: Adore your great pics!!!

Whitemeat is an 8 year old kid living in his mom's basement.

The fact that he is tearing up the yos walls is irrelevant.

edit: just funning with you meat.

???

Sorry, you must be misinformed. You've stumbled upon a political forum. I'm sure somewhere online there's a safe haven for your type of people, who actually enjoy the great outdoors more than their keyboard. Good luck finding it. ;)

P.S. Shuteye sux. Don't go there.

Welcome to the Taco!

Now that your leaving the sea to sky, Check out the Squamish Photos and Stories thread if you miss home.

Fresno is smoggy for sure. Check out shuteye ridge next spring once the snow melts. Amazing climbing on cool features. Check out the Southern Yosemite thread here.

Good luck with supertopo. It can get roudy around here, but most folks are well meaning.

Oh My God!

You poor folks just rang the dinner bell at the Piranha Pit.

Carnage awaits.
